Jazz Pre-Draft Workouts

There is a rumor that the Kings are set on him at 7, but also that the owners really want the Jimmer. We shall see.

On the radio (1280) they spoke with a Sacramento writer and he said that they coaches see no room for Fredette and that they need a SF like Leonard or Vesely but the Maloofs want the money Fredette would generate. So the coaching staff had a video made up of all of Fredette's flaws etc and to bolster their case. The Sac writer thought the coaches would win out.

I hope the Maloofs win out. It would eliminate a huge potential headache for the Jazz because there will be a number of better prospects available at 12, and if KOC selects any of them with Feredeter still on the board the boos would be deafening.

My Jimmer hatred notwithstanding, this is a fantastic post. I wish I could rep it.

GO MALOOFS!

I dunno. I'm pretty high on Fredette. His positives are so obvious but it's like they're invisible. They're diminished while his flaws are magnified.

What's your argument against Jimmer, guy?

I'll give you a hint, Archie. The argument falls out along the lines of (a) what it means to be a complete basketball player, and (b) the subtleties of what it takes to be able to bring those skills to the NBA court. In other words, it's talent-evaluating-basketball-stuff... have you tried thinking of Jimmer in those terms? I mean, I know you saw him put the orange thing in the basket an aMAzInG number of time from aMAzInG distances last year, but....

You're too smart.
I think when it comes to Fredette people are being too smart for their own good. And Fredette is just such an obvious talent that it's too mainstream. And being mainstream isn't cool so better to go with some like Singleton. You look really cool if Singleton pans out, whereas Fredette? Well yeah - that's just so obvious.

I think Jimmer has a lot in common with Jason Terry. How did he turn out? Also, Jimmer is a winner. There's no denying that. Are there holes in his game? Sure. But everyone else has them too. Tell me why exactly the Jazz don't need a shooter?

This.

yeah, but there is that HUGE *** MOTHA ****ING HOLE on the defensive side of the court. That's HALF a complete game, btw.

"Defense is a mindset," Fredette said. "I have the ability to do it. Everybody has the ability to do it, if they put their mind to it. That's a big key of mine going to the next level."

Well, in school Fredette didn't have the mindset to play defense. Now he's talking a good game, but based on the word out of his workouts Fredette held his own. I'd like it if he could stay in front of his man. According to his athletic numbers from the combine he can (if he has the mindset to do so). He certainly appears to be developing a chip on his shoulder regarding this, so there is reason for optimism here. And y'know, it's not like Deron didn't get beat an awful lot.

This is the knock on Fredette. Pretty minor compared to the mountain of talent on the other side of the ball. You're still going to pass on him? For who? Singleton? Knight? Knight'll cost you the better pick (Kanter).

What kind of players have to repeatedly apologize for their play, saying things like "defense is a mindset"?
Does size matter? What kind of guys say, "Size doesn't matter, it's how you use it"?

BWhahahwhahah another one couldn't hack the red rep and had to slap back. hehepeepeecaca!

yeah, hehahehaLOLlyGAG, I've always found it funny when my own actions have consequences, too. It's especially funny when I'm a douche and somebody is a douche right back and I'm thinking WOW it's funny how that guy was a douche just then! you guys see that?!?!
