I like the idea of taking a chance on Jabari. He isnt the best defender but he still plays defense. His comment is really overblown. He wasnt saying he wouldnt play defense but that the other end of the court is more important. There is some truth to that. Good defense is important and you have to put in effort as a team on that end. But elite offensive players will still score. Good offense can overcome good defense.
Assuming we arent giving up much for him its a good risk. Maybe the coaching staff can work with him and we get a really good offensive player. Its not like he is a selfish offensive player. He has the upside of being exactly what we want at the 4 a playmaking 4 that can shoot the three, handle the ball, make good passes, and score when we need a bucket. The downside is he might suck and we let him go next year.
