Has been said by KOC. I wonder if we do indeed draft Knight and Singleton if this is the main theme. Although there might be sexier and riskier picks at #3 and #12, the Jazz might be thinking a little more conservatively.

Especially after being burned by Duron.

I wonder if the Jazz are focusing even moreso now, on guys that will work hard, not rock the boat, and will fit in.

Boozer, struggled to fit in with his character and work ethic issues.
Duron struggled to mesh with his narcissistic personality and mood swings.

Knight, unlike Kanter, seems mature and better prepared to led. Unlike Kanter, played last year and showed great improvement throughout the season. Perhaps the Jazz are banking on his continued improvement and if he can raise the play of our entire team.

Singleton, unlike Morris, seems like a quieter guy that will bring his hard hat to the job. Singleton, unlike someone like Donta, doesn't have issues with his intensity or work ethic.

So I'm just wondering, if the draft pans out with Knight and Singleton being our selections, what was the general theme?

Did we go with the BPA?
Or did we try and get good talent but nothing too risky that would "screw things up?"

I think that Utah picking Knight/Singleton our safe picks but I do think they both have some serious upside and I would be an extremely happy Jazz Fanz if this is how the draft turns out.
 
@12 Utah will go Singleton, Montiejunas, or Fredette. Don't be shocked if Utah takes Knight and Fredette, signs Earl Watson and figures out how to trade Devin Harris. Maybe Devin Harris to Charlotte for Diop and #9.

DWill still is the best pick we've made in the past decade. If I could have the pick back, I wouldn't.

Hell, we have Favors, Harris and the #3 pick this year because of him. I don't care if he didn't give cues if he wanted to stay or not......he was a human asset that has given us equal value. I actually think our future is brighter with him gone.

I say, thank you DWill. Favors future > Current DWill

I think it is funny that people say Knight at 3 is not BPA with such certainty. We, as a board, have no frickin clue who is the better player. It could be Knight, it could be Kanter. Nobody has seen Kanter play, so we don't know. I would be fine with either at 3, and I trust KOC to make the right choice.

Also, you say Knight is a reach at #3, and you could get him at 5 or 6. Who is better? Maybe Kanter, and that is all. So, Knight is not a reach at #3.

I loved Givony's tweets today that said that everything hinges on what we do at #3 and no one knows what we're going to do. He said that he's talked to several agents of players that we've picked, and even they weren't sure if we were going to pick their guys until we did.

I don't think that this means our front office is good. Look at the Boozer situation or the AK we are in the mist of speculation because we have potential to make the big moves. We will probably just make some move where we grab two mediocre players. If Wall stayed in school do you think Knight would have sniffed the court? He is going to be mediocre at best. Kanter is the only chance that we have to match with Favors for a front court of the future.
 
I don't know how you can say Knight is a safe pick. Walker would be the safest pick at 3 IMO. Knight has a lot of developing too do. I guess you could say his high character and work ethic make him safe, but as far as potential goes, he has a lot of it.
 
you may not like it, but being tight-lipped is the best thing to do in this situation. if everything hinges on #3 and everyone is basing their plans on what we're doing, then the best way to get desperate phone calls from 27 other GMs is to not tip our hand so that everybody wonders if the guy they want at 4, or 5, or 6, etc. is going to be around. if everybody in the NBA knew that KOC was going to take, for example, enes, then we'd only be getting calls from teams who really wanted enes, and cleveland would be getting all the other calls for #4.

i have said this same thing and gotten crap from coworkers and family members. but seriously, how is a PG who can't play PG considered the "safe" pick? knight might turn into something awesome, but i think kemba's worst case scenario is a lot safer than knight's.

(that said, i like knight's ceiling and his defense... so i'm not saying take walker over knight... just saying that the risk/reward calculation is very different for the two.)

I totally agree. I fear Knight/Singleton, but I have hope that KOC wouldn't do that.
Kanter > Knight.
And MANY I'd take before Singleton.
