Spurs offering George Hill?

and Billshelby brought up Bell do we see Bell being movd for a 2nd rounder? Maybe 1 of the Lakers 4 2nd Roundrs?

P.S. 2.5 assists in 28 MPG and posts a <2:1 ast:to ratio. Maybe I'm stubborn, but I want a little more out of my PG.

Yeah what I said. But he doesn't really turn the ball over either. The ratio is bad cause his assist # is bad

Right. You could say his ratio could be a lot better because of that, or you could say with one more turnover per game, he's barely breaking even in that regard.

Hill is a physical marvel. Probably one of the best conditioned athletes in the league. So I like his intangibles. But I can't see doing the deal until you know who falls at 12. I'd be happier with him over Jimmer, but I wouldn't be happier with him over Biyombo/JV.

I love you so hard.

Great post. If both of those guys are gone then take this deal. Hill>Jimmer and is already a proven player in this league. Problem is they probably don't want this deal if both of those guys are gone. I heard on teh radio the guy they are targeting is JV.

They supposedly like Klay Thompson, so that offer could be there. If the Jazz draft Kanter with the intention of keeping him, AND they want a backup point, I'd definitely take Hill off their hands for the 12. Downside is he only has two more years on his deal. Upside is that's plenty of time to figure out if he's worth keeping for the long haul, and in that two years we'd be all set at the point.

This is very tempting, he is only 3 years older than Jimmer and handled PG well for one of the best teams in the league. He is longer and as athletic as Knight. His assist numbers suck, but doesn't turn the ball over either. Very very tempting even if JV is still on the board.

If San Antonio values number 12 it means someone good will be there. Also, there's no way San Antonio takes Bell. This is the Spurs, for Hell's sake, not the Timberwolves.

If this is Hill for the 12 and we get Williams, then do it!!! I'm not ready to give up on Harris.

PG Harris/Hill/Watson
SG Hayward/Hill/CJ
SF Williams/Milsap/Evans
PF Favors/Milsap
C Jefferson/Okur/Elson

Price, Kirilenko, FES and Bell are collateral damage.

Williams will not be a good SF. He might be a decent PF but not a good SF.

Everyone's going crazy over this guy and seems to be writing as if he's a point guard. Why? The Spurs had Parker. This kid in 28+ minutes a night didn't even average three assists. I'm not saying don't do the trade. I'm not saying he's not a point. But can someone enlighten me about this kid. I'd just like someone to explain the rationale on the trade (other than obvious cheap, quality depth) when it appears to me he's a two and we have Hayward who needs to be getting a minimum of 20 minutes a night this year, and hopefully more like 25-30. If Hill is willing to be our first wing off the bench, then I'm sold. Otherwise, I just wonder if it's the wise move. Again, with that contract, and two years left, and the fact that he's George Hill and is unlikely to demand the nightlife of NYC or any other major market seems extremely attractive. I just want to know more about him.

For everyone saying he won't make a good 3 I'm willing to bet that in a game thread a couple years from now we'll be worried that we're overmatched. For some odd reason, we are always the losers on a mismatch. If the Lakers started Biyomba at PG we'd worry about how he has way too much size and length and has 9" on our starting PG.

I have not seen Hill enough to offer a great explanation. What I have seen of him is that he's as physically imposing a guy as you will ever see at the point, and he can definitely guard 2's even at his size (not 3's.)

I think two things. One, the Spurs are a well known drive and kick team. The kick usually leads to another pass around the perimeter. That's a big reason why Parker's assist numbers are always so low. He does his part (the drive), gets defenses out of whack, and they're so good at swinging the ball that the dominoes often fall to somebody else getting the assist he created.

Two, Parker only missed 4 games this year. Which means for Hill to get 28 minutes per, he had to be playing with Parker a fair amount. In that role, he's playing the 2 while Parker does his thing. That's going to lead to less assists. I don't know if he's got great point guard skills. But he's a specimen and he's productive.

This, from when I watched the Spurs he was mainly playing 2 and spotting up. He is a pass first point guard though. No stats to prove it, just observation from games

To take this point 1 step further. If he was not playing with Parker he was probably playing with Manu. Who essentially became the PG of the offense when he was on the floor without Parker.

George Hill > Devin Harris ?? I believe thats the question you have to ask yourself. Or maybe you play them together? I like Hill but at the same time, I dont see him playing here.
