When we were projected to draft Kanter/Knight I believed we where a fringe playoff team, someone competing for a distant shot at a 7-8 seed. Now that we are in position to draft Williams does that potentially make us a legitimate playoff contender fighting for a 4-8 seed? Talks have also been Kemba Walker might possibly fall to 12, which would give us a ridiculously strong (on paper) bench.

Harris- Walker(or Jimmer)
Hayward - Miles
Williams - Millsap - Evans
Millsap - Favors - Evans
Jefferson - Okur - Fess

Even though this would be a relatively inexperienced bunch, players like Walker and Williams give us mentally strong leaders who I think will both be ROY candidates. Our defense would most likely be a weakness, but our offense would be very potent.

If Williams can play the 3 like he says he's destined to, then yeah, I think that increases our chances. We'd be not only taking BPA, but we get the bonus of getting a massive need. If he proves his 50%+ 3 pt stat wasn't a fluke, then Favors, Milsap and Al could do some major damage.

If Hayward and Favors start where they left off last season than I would say 6-8 seed. There isn't a lot of drop off of talent with the second unit with that lineup except at the 5. Hopefully favors is starting by the all star break.

Man that would be a fun team to watch.

I am pretty for us to make the playoffs our rotation would be more like this-

Harris- Walker or Jimmer
Hayward-Miles
Williams-Millsap-Miles
Favors-Millsap-Evans
Jefferson-Favors-Okur

That is a really big lineup except with Jefferson.

I see no reason to have an 8 man rotation throughout the whole season. No one does that.

And supposedly Jefferson is training hard in Santa Barbara. A shame the lockout may make all of that moot.
Jazz should be in the mix for a 6-8 seed. I'm pretty excited to see this bunch develop, no matter who the Jazz end up drafting at 3/12.

I think the Jazz can contend for the Northwest division if they stay healthy, the rookies are as good as we think, and Hayward and Favors have significantly improved. Everyone needs to remember that Harris and Favors only had a handful of games to get acquainted with their teammates. IF AJ is in better shape and then watch out. I think would be happy with that roster but I am still concerned with our defense.

I am still of the opinion that the Jazz could have had a chance at the playoffs last year if they could have been at least somewhat healthy. Look at all the games missed and different starting lineups due to injuries last year. I don't think Ty had one game as a head coach were he had his whole roster. So adding a couple of good pieces IMO makes us a playoff contender for sure.

williams will no way make us a playoff contender. He doesnt have that much potential. He is at best a good complementary piece

Disagree, him and Kemba are the most NBA ready players and would easily give the most impact to an NBA team right away. If you add them together, we could easily be a playoff team. Let's not forget Jefferson and Millsap are solid, Miles can provide anywhere from 5-40 off the bench, and Harris was a former all-star.

I woul be happier with Kemba at 12 than I would be with Williams at 3, and I'd be pants on the ground ecstatic with Williams at 3. Can you imagine the motivation dropping to 12 would give Kemba. He would come into the NBA with the biggest chip on his shoulder.

Didnt think of that but I think it is true.

And Hayward can rain 3's

Try as I might, I just can't see Walker falling to #12. But if the Jazz somehow come out of this draft with Williams and Walker we would be an instant playoff team in my opinion. And I would treat myself to a steak dinner tomorrow night.
