2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Favs becomes exclusively a backup center. Niko or Crowder start. Favs would go down to 14-16 minutes per game if everyone is healthy. Crowder drops from 27.5 where he currently is to 23 ish and Niko picks up the 23-24 minutes per game. Rudy likely drops a few minutes a night, but for Crowder and Niko I think those minutes are fine.

Favs has to sacrifice his starting status and 1/3 of his minutes... he would likely be salty about it and rightfully so... I think it would hurt our locker room a bit. Maybe not

Yeah I don't think Favs would go for that at all. The only way I would acquire Niko is if Favors is involved in the deal or another deal and no longer on the team.

Read my post above. There is no reason Crowder, Ingles and Rudy should all be playing 30+ minutes per night. And we don't need Niang at all. I think Favors might give up a couple minutes, but he shouldn't fall too much below 20mpg. And considering how we need to rest Rudy, there are games when Favors can play 30 minutes.

I agree... I posted at the same time... tough to get guys to buy into that thought though.

Honestly though... I don't think we need to go get Niko... I think he can be had for a fair offer this offseason... if they are giving him up for peanuts I'm in.

Depends on what role Favors wants to play. If he is okay playing 15 mpg as our back up C while getting some minutes at PF, then fine. If he's not happy, then he has to be part of the deal.

If we kept Favors while getting Niko, we become one of the deepest teams in the league.

If that is the case I think Favs helps us more than Niko this year and would opt for continuity. Niko's been in/out last couple months... wait for the offseason.

Niko has a calf strain right now... so you could probably bring him in slowly with Niang like minutes.

BTW guys... did you see Niang was really good the other night... and he did it when it mattered... I have pulled all my real estate on Niang Island off the market.
So you put it on the market when it’s value bottoms out, but keep it when it’s high?

To get him in the offseason, we have to let Favors go. If Mirotic doesn't fit that well, we could be screwed by a long term deal. I think it is very important to get Mirotic to see how he fits in the locker room and on the court. If he doesn't fit, we dodge a major financial bullet by test driving him first.

Rudy's only 26 years old...he should absolutely be playing 30+ minutes a night.

I keep having visions of how much he’d space the floor with all his deep above the break threes, and then Ingles and Korver in the corners.

Was going to cut my losses and take the tax deduction this year. Value is not high yet... but it showed some hope...

If you allow him to rest against the scrub East teams, Favors' minutes go up. In each game, I think Gobert is playing a fair amount so you are right in that regard.

Gobert could use a night off here and there. Ingles too.

Have we talked about what it would take to get Hardaway Jr? He'd be a nice piece at the deadline for Fav and still allow us to go big in Free Agency...Knicks made him available over the weekend.

He’s a big scorer on a bad team. I would want a good asset to take him... they likely won’t give up what it’d take.

His contract is bigger than his contribution... on a good team I think he’d be a third guard... which would be a decent role for him.

I would be interested in Noah Vonleh if we traded Favs though... think he’s a good enough shooter to start with Rudy and could back him up... a different version of what Favs gives... developing young guy too.

If we sent them expirings, they would be incredibly excited. NY just wants to be done with his contract so they can go shopping this summer.

Something like Thabo, Udoh, Neto and Niang would probably get NY to say yes. They are that desperate to cut future salary.

Don't know if Rudy Gay would have consider our MLE for 2/3 years, but that dude would be the small ball 4 we want. Great plan B this offseason on a shorter deal.

Before you go "ewwwww Rudy Gay" check the stats... dude is playing really well.

Seriously though, I think he'd be a way under the radar pick up that could be exactly what we need.

OP Jr. trying to play his way out of Washington... heady move.

Will be hilarious when he goes to his next team and immediately starts shooting better and looks happier.
