Favors for Porz?

I'm pretty sure one of the big parts of the deal was to trade Hardaway and Courtney Lee for expiring contracts. I'm not sure we could have done that.
Edit: Come to think of it, perhaps we could. Porzingis' contract isn't that huge, after all.
Edit again: Of course we could, Favors, Rubio and Thabo is plenty. Still, I guess they would prefer the Mavs package.

Damn it. Seriously wtf? Porz and Gobert would have been nightmare for opposing teams. Instant full contender status. Fml

Great talent obviously but not a fan of his character. Dude acts like he has won 3 rings already. Besides he has a dumbass brother that's worse than Lavar Ball. Plus the injury history.

Yes it did.

The Jazz didn't have the assets that Dallas did.
The assets were the expirings and taking bad contacts from NY right? Or is that incorrect?
We have both those things right? Or is that also incorrect?

We didn't have DSJ but we do have a 2019 pick

I was just going to say this. We could have given a pick or picks. Then they could just draft someone like DSJ who is even younger and on a longer low cost contract. Or two DSJ's.

Would you take Dennis Smith, Jr. over Rubio? With his contract and age? Seems a safer bet for Knicks.

Unless they liked Grayson Allen more than DSJ, the Jazz had no chance.

Both of these.

It seems to me the biggest difference between what we could have offered and what they got is a good young player on a rookie contract with a lot of upside.

DSJ>>>>Grayson Allen on that score.

Dallas also sent 2 future first round picks to NY.

DSJ, take on $30 M in contracts, 2 1 round picks, Matthews, Jordan... apparently a lot more than the Jazz would be willing to give.

We have better expirings... but that's probably a negative for NYK... they want to be bad. The question is whether they could get some positive value for Favors and/or Rubio.

We probably don't have a prospect as good as DSJ so this probably tilts it towards Dallas. Also their picks are likely to be better than ours.

Well then the jazz are stupid. Would have been worth it.
