2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I know a lot of people are against a player like LaVine but... I was reading an article on da Windy City and they were proposing trades to teams such as the nets for carrol and a first or Portland for garbage and a first. If Pistons win the Conley chase and Portland scoops up Mirotic with their first does anyone think the jazz would even consider offering for LaVine? The bulls are interested in Rubio already...
Rubio, Allen, and a first for LaVine and start DM at the 1.

No. Hell no.

And that offer for LaVine is turrrrible.

agreeing with others, Saric is at worst better than someone like Niang taking up roster pace. Is he the PF of the future? Maybe not, but he's playing with zero confidence rn and he'd be a perfect fit in Quin's system. Spaces floor, shot-creator, smart player.

I mean it seems kind of clear that LA ISN'T happening, they really can't offer any more. And AD doesn't want Boston. So where does that leave us? If I had to bet, I'd say the Knicks. They can give all kinds of picks and a few promising youngsters. Why would NO want last year's Lakers? I'd take the uncertainty behind door number 2.
A lot of the stuff you are hearing is smoke and mirrors. He's going to Boston or LA.

Id be for Saric

NOLA is going to squeeze a little more out of LA then make the deal before the deadline.

If this summer AD comes out and personally denies a Boston future, LA will get AD for much less than what they are paying now.

It is in our best interest that NOLA trades AD to LA before the deadline. If LA gets him cheap this summer, LA has a better chance to turn into a super power. AD and LeBron scare me a lot less than AD, LeBron, Kuzma and draft picks and another star.

I don't believe AD wouldnt want to go to Boston. I think a lot of the people advising him don't want him in Boston. Ainge will give them Tatum and pieces and try to convince AD to stay.

people keep bringing up allen, but i'd be very surprised if DL involves him in any trade unless it is for a superstar (not conley). low-cost rookie who's been injured/g-leagued/DNP'd and played very little minutes in only about 1/2 the games so far despite showing summerleague/preseason promise for a coach who's offensive and defensive schemes take time to learn/get comfortable with. his defense is much improved and offense will return to form w/ more minutes/reps and confidence. korver is going to be 38 y/o next month and you have no other potential quick-trigger shooter/specialist on the team other than allen unless you count joe. royce/X are only good for wide open 3's and are not players that can be run off screens for jumpers, shoot off the dribble, or shoot deep or contested threes like korver or allen. he has also shown plenty of moments of being a secondary ballhandler/offensive creator which royce is not capable of regularly. i'd be very surprised if he's traded. if so and he starts getting regular minutes elsewhere, he may end up like buddy hield.

I’m actually starting to hope that Conley ends up in Detroit. I like him on the Pistons - it would make them pretty dangerous in my opinion. Conley, Griffin, and Drummond is a tough big three. And I’d like to see the Pistons be somewhat relevant again - god knows that if there’s one city in this country that need any help they can get, it’s Detroit. And It would be fun to watch them give the Celtics a hard time in the playoffs.
I have zero sympathy for any franchise that already has a ring. Let someone new win it for once.

I would rather the Lakers 5peat and the Jazz miss the playoffs for 4 years than have AD go to the fkn Celtics.

"The Celtics have refused to directly dangle Jayson Tatum, "

Ainge is so damn stingy that if I'm NOLA I don't take the chance that Boston refuses to trade Tatum.

Boston, without Tatum, has a terrible trade offer compared to what LA is currently offering. Tatum is going to have another big postseason and Boston will make him off limits. NOLA needs to get another 1st or 2 from LA then pull the trigger.

So are you Woj, now? Are you in the war room? I mean sometimes the call on the field is the call on the field. I would want no part of the Laker's dysfunctional Junk. Give me picks and let me build my own destiny with players I control for 7 years. I think a lot of the "smoke" is from LA and Boston centered sports writers. There is a lot of wishcasting going on.

I wonder if we can somehow get Kuzma with all of this going on. Maybe offer Grayson and a 1st rounder to the Lakers who can add them to the package to the Pelicans who want picks. I'm not excited about Conley, and Porter would tie up a lot of cap room (sounds like he isn't available). Mirotic or Parker would be good gamble for a second rounder and filler.

I know people get upset when DL holds pat, but I'd rather stand pat than overpay for someone who won't get us over the hump.

That's been my train of thought lately too. If we could send Grayson and 2 1st rounders for Kuzma, I would do it. I would take Solomon Hill's contract off the Pelicans too.

How do you think these guys get sources?

They do it by putting out select information from agents/players/inner circle members.

For instance, Chris Haynes is very connected to Klutch Sports. There have been a lot of instances throughout his career when you can see that he is being mouthpiece for Rich Paul.

Woj is obviously connected to Boston a bit and has been helping Ainge get his message out as well.

It isn't wish casting, its how these guys do their jobs and create their sources.

I’m all for Conley ALMOST at whatever the cost (except 2 first round picks...but Rubio, exum, Allen, 1st round, 2nd round i'm for). I think it does two things. It shows DM that we believe in you now and want to get you the help you need. It is also a smart play to learn how to win over the next two years and maybe get to a WCF. Then when Conley’s deal is up, you resign him on the cheap or move on and then you are able to max Mitchell and resign Gobert. Then you will have cap space to get the next piece to get you into the Finals and maybe win it. Thats my plan.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that he seems like a great rehabilitation project. His stock has got to be low right now. Definitely intriguing.

I’ve liked him since the draft. I think he has some playmaking ability... wasn’t room for that with Tall Rondo and Embiid in Philly. His shooting actually picked back up in Minny... just don’t see him as the ideal fit next to Towns.

Think he’d work well here and Quin could unlock some of that playmaking.

They want a pick and a player... k our first and tony Bradley (he is a player... they need to be more specific)

If we could get Conley and Saric I’d be super stoked. Can we send Exum somewhere for a pick? It really isn’t possible I suppose, but getting Saric would mean we’d still have space this offseason.

Ben Dowsett podcast has a Memphis beat writer guy on it.

They both think Utah has the lead on Conley. Detroit/Memphis has died down some.

Favors most likely not included in any Conley trade. Exum possibly.

Think Conley makes the WCF possible for Utah we’re as right now the 2nd round is our ceiling.

If we get Conley and keep Exum and Favors I'll be thrilled.

And it sounds like we've made our final offer and neither of them is included.

So it either happens or it doesn't, looks like Detroit and Utah have set the market for him. We'll see who blinks first.
