2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

You've never watched him play.

I have watched him play plenty. He is good but he is no more than a fringe star. Definitely better than Rubio but is he 16 mil more a year better? Also know this decision if it gets made by the jazz will be it for the next two seasons after this because all financial flexibility is gone.

Ummmm Kuzma isn't a draw unless he's a Laker... the best business is winning ****. Saric might be better at that. I don't know that either is available for a first. If the asking price was equal I'd go Kuzma because I think his ceiling as a player is higher. If we are looking at what guy would help us win more now... I think that'd be Saric.

Kuzma has already created a name for himself to NBA fans and the media. Nobody hardly even knows who Saric is even though Saric has had an entire extra season to show himself.

As for the on the court, I think both guys are average or worse defensively. I also think that Kuzma is more athletic which gives me more long term hope that he can figure out how to be a better defender. Personally, I think Saric is more of a role player whereas Kuzma is a bonafide NBA starter who possesses the elite ability to score. We need that.

This sucks so bad for the Wizards. Just at the start of the super max and he is ruined. $169+ Million over the next 4 years :(

I don't see how they have any options other than to embrace a full rebuild and hope that they are ready to compete by the time his contract is done.

They can keep Porter. We will just get him in the summer.

They may extend him now. Him being restricted could be an issue. I like him a lot.

Conley is good but I do believe Satoransky is a better fit cuz he can guard 1-3 and play off-ball. I think he can have growth similar to Lowry/Dragic should he leave WAS for his next contract.

Kuzma is actively bad on defense. He can score, but he needs to be more efficient. Neither moves the needle when it comes to nba media and DL gives zero effs about that in player acquisition.

I'd rather have Kuzma... but for two firsts and other stuff... nah. I would want Saric for a first... much more than that and I'd pass. .

Mike Conley is near the end of his career and he doesn't make us even remotely competitive with the Warriors. Plus he's ball dominant, and Donovan Mitchell plays best when HE'S dominating the ball. Sending out young Exum/draft picks for him is a horrible long-term decision imo. It's paying, what, $100 million to get to OKC/Portland's level? I just don't get how strategically it makes sense.

We need another player who can be ball dominant when needed. I don't think the Jazz are offering Exum. According to Tony Jones they are offering a first (and possibly a second) plus expirings.

I think it makes some sense. Conley is a clear upgrade over Rubio in almost every way. He has a 3 year contract that expires at the same time Gobert and Mitchell's contracts both expire. So his salary isn't hurting the Jazz ability to keep our stars.

Let's say we trade for Conley and whatever reason it doesn't work out well at all for the next two seasons... The Jazz can pivot. He should be a valuable expiring contract that they can flip. Or they can just let his contract expire and retool around Mitchell and Gobert's new contracts.

Let's say we trade for Conley and he ends up playing solid basketball and he fits in well here and we are an improved team but it's still not enough to get us over the Warriors/Rockets mountain (a likely scenario)... The Jazz have the possibility of opening up a max, or near max contract to offer a good player to play next to Gobert/Mitchell/Conley.

As long as we're only giving up what Tony Jones has mentioned, I think it's worth the gamble.

The conley idea smells like desperation. If Lindsey Mortages the future again for another short term mid level, pg then buckle up Jazz fanz cause you're gonna lose Rudy and Donovan.

I will be so bold to say if that is the only option the Jazz have left then they need to do now what they should've done with Hagwaste and reset the timetable around the new star by trading the old.

Trade Rudy for everything they can get and build around Mitchell.

Would you trade for Wall's contract if it brought back Beal?

Wow, what a great question. I'm not sure. I'm on the fence on this one. I would probably say yes because we could do the trade with Favors, Rubio and Thabo. Bradley Beal is just that good. Wall's contract hurts us, but getting Beal is probably worth it.

Yes we haven’t been competitive at all between last year and this year, as we’ve beat them by a combined total of a gazillion points, and the one win they have this year, they got lucky.

So we are willing to give up more for Conley than we would for Kuzma? That's just crazy. Kuzma is a scorer and we are a team who desperately needs another scorer. If we create a starting lineup of Exum, Mitchell, Ingles, Kuzma and Gobert, Kuzma is our worst defender. However, everybody else is a fantastic defender. On the offensive end, we Mitchell and Kuzma are the only fantastic offensive players. I will take his defense as long as he is providing that much of an offensive threat.

I think Kuzma is a bit overrated. He may fit more in the mold of a poor man's Rudy Gay from yesteryear. Plus, here's LaVar's take:

lmao who is saying Kuzma for two first?

I like the guy, but he's kind of turned into a chucker who doesnt shoot very well. I'd rather have Saric if prices where equal.

We ain't giving up two firsts for Conley. Kuzma is fine... he can score on less than ideal efficiency. Everything else he does ranges from not great to really bad.

He seems like a worker... I'd bet on him. I don't think he's really even available, so I'm not going to argue with you there.
