2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

We’re not getting a legit asset this off-season. People need to get this fairy tale out of their head.

There is a chance... also there will be a chance at getting multiple guys in a 15-16M range that aren't top tier. It may only be a 20-25% chance we get a big fish... but we will certainly get something.

There is a chance Conley turns into a millstone... pay what is fair, but using the logic we should just throw another first in too... everyone wants to go all in on every guy we are rumored to be involved in talks on.

A conley deal more likely would be pushed to completion by another first round pick being added or sending Exum instead of the expirings... I'm not sure what to think about Dante so I might be more inclined to sub him into a deal.

I think it’s easier to get the stud pg by acquiring Conley and getting the stretch 4 with a Tucker/Aminu type than it is getting a Tobias (he’s gonna leave LA for here?) and getting a steady pg who can shoot. Walker and Brogdan are staying put. Etc.

Get Conley now. Fill in the 4 with another Tucker/Aminu/Crowder type. Seems more feasible and sensible because we know they are looking to deal Conley and we’d be locked into him for three years.

We have no idea what these FA’s want to do. But many seem like they’d stay put and our track record of attracting top tier FA’s blows. So if we can get one via a trade, we almost have to do it.

K... so are you putting Exum in or another first... piling seconds up is cute but likely doesn't move the needle.

Tucker was once traded for second round picks and Brogdon was a second round pick... just thought I'd throw that out there.

Then why throw one 2nd in at all? It has to mean something.

And I see value in 2nds. I’m just saying we don’t often use them and there’s no way in hell I’m going to let Conley slip through my hands because I’m reluctant to trade another 2nd.

Since 2017-18 season Conley is 8-14 against Harden, Westbrook, Lillard and Curry.

He is 2-5 against Ball and Dearon Fox.

He is not beating the current top dogs in the west, nor is he beating the next gen.

So why give away a pile of your current and future assets to pay his over bloated contract? Besides with Exum and Neto we already have a stable of injury prone pgs.

We have a near zero track record of acquiring star players.

We’ve attracted one major player via free agency in like 30 years. Boozer. Who grew up in Alaska and was a huge Malone fan.

Players just don’t come to Utah. Need to get Conley when we can.

Favors is twice the player Niko is.
If Conley starts Favors' minutes and impact will improve.
I doubt it. Maybe his impact improves if Conley is the PG in some Favors center lineups.

His minutes will be less harmful with Gobert, but I don't know if they will be more impactful, if that makes sense. I think the minutes splits would remain largely the same.

That good with those ****** Grizzlies teams?

Your arguments are TERRIBLE my man. Probably because you have never seen Conley play and don't know how to actually evaluate the trade, you just decided you don't like it.

8-14 is actually pretty good considering how ravaged they were by injuries last season and how obviously they tanked.

I can understand being worried about Conley for durability and financial reasons, but stop pretending he's not what the Jazz need. Moves the needle a fair bit if he stays healthy. At this point, the Jazz need to do something to bring in someone of his caliber, and the small few available arent coming because they "choose" to. He is a massive upgrade over Rubio, and would very much change offensive dynamics freeing Mitchell and opening it up a little for Gobert as well. Memphis may want too much, but a first and Rubio with trade exceptions and any of the bench end guys would be a sweet haul.

I agree with you here Wes. But we Disagree on a solution.

We got two stars...Rudy and Donovan. It didn't require the state of Utah to change demographics or physical location to compete with LA. It only took draft picks.

Jazz control a pick for atleast 5 years, more likely 7. So keep your picks and draft good players.

Or keep giving them away for middle of the pack pg rentals.

Its Lindsay's choice, but I know which way Id tell him to go.
