What's new

It's Kanter

does anyone feel that the kanter pick looked better after knight fell to 8th?

I felt it was the right pick to begin with. I wasn't going to whine if we picked Knight at 3. He fell to 8 and was obviously disappointed. Such is life.

I think it came down to whether or not Knight can be a pure point guard and lead this team.

plus I have a feeling they think Burks might be able to play some PG........

I think kights attitude towards the workouts and maybe to a to lesser extent his off putting comments that made him appear to not want to play in utah is what made him fall. I still think he will be an amazing player and now has a chip on his shoulder. I now am hoping this draft pans out. I really wasnt thrilled with either pick, butbthey are jazzmen now and i will support them.

Just saw Prodigy tweet on Locked on Jazz (jazz site) lol. Still not liking the Kanter pick huh Prodigy?

Burks can be a PG offensively, like a Brandon Roy. We will need a player to defend the opposing teams PG on the defensive end though. Burks couldn't guard the small, super quick guards.

I think a few of things that I like about Kanter are:

1. The 5% body fat. For a heavier big, this is outstanding. It also shows discipline and hard work. that always transfers.

2. Rebounding. Euro bigs that don't rebound are plenty, and they all suck. If you rebound, you are working.

3. He can shoot outside, but LIKES to play inside. If you are that big and even have a little skill you can be successful if you are willing to go inside. Look at Memo who has the footwork of an ox. When he went inside he was effective. Look at Fes for that matter when he could hold onto the ball. The lack of true big guys in the NBA makes skilled bigs look even better.

4. We have other good bigs around him. Not many teams have a stable of good young bigs. Thats as good as cash on the trade market once we find where are biggest holes lie.

So he could rebound against a bunch of Euro big who don't rebound?

wow. just watched some interviews with the kid.

kid is the key word.

it just hit me how young he is.

he looks like a pimply kid right out of high school (which he kinda is) stuck in a giants body.

guess it didnt hit me how young our core is getting till i saw his face up close in the interview.

I thought all along that the Jazz were rating Knight too high. I'm glad they went with Kanter in the end.

Come on guys, factor in team needs before you go patting yourselves on the back for Knight falling. We all knew if the Jazz did not take him he would fall at least a couple of places if not more. He was the first point guard taken after Kyrie.
