UTAH JAZZ****************************************************************************************************************************************************GRADE: A
Round 1: Enes Kanter (3, obtained from New Jersey), Alec Burks (12)

Round 2: No picks.

Analysis: I really like the Utah draft. Kanter has the ability to be a productive starting center in the league. And Burks is a very talented guard who, if he develops a jump shot, could become a star.

With the addition of Kanter and Burks plus Derrick Favors and last year's lottery pick Gordon Hayward, the Jazz have quickly rebuilt a strong young talent base while keeping a nice core of veterans around to mentor them. The future looks very bright in Utah.
 
Due, I both love and hate being a Jazz Fan. The fact they can't get over the hump tears me up inside every year... but their ability to utterly surprise me with the moves they make is amazing. This is exactly what I was thinking last night. The team wasn't ancient, but it was starting to get more veteran with Okur, Bell, AK, etc. And within one year. All of the sudden we have 4 prospects that two have provn they can have bright futures (Hayward and Favors) and two I'm really excited about (Kanter and Burks) As well as Veterans that are still pretty young (Jefferson and Millsap) and a few strong older pieces who can hopefully show leadership (Watson, Harris, Okur)

I honestly don't know how well they will play next year... it's a complete mystery to me. But I am really liking how the team looks.
 
They just interviewed Horny, in talking about Burks shooting, said when he was at Iowa st. he wasn't a great shooter. He wasn't a great shooter in his first three seasons. Said he came in as not a good shooter but had the shooters eye, and that Burks also has a shooters eye, just needs to work hard.

What the heck is the "shooter's eye"?
 
No coach in the NBA likes to play rookies. Corbin showed he will do about what Jerry did. And we will still be fine in developing young guys.
 
I think we did a good job, not necessarily cuz trading right players but with our attitude throughout the workout process. KOC didnt make any exaggarated comments, he basically analyzed players made his decision, and made his move right away in the draft day. We didnt even wait a lot to pick him, it was pretty sure we would pick Enes while he is availabe, KOC just grabbed his pick like a leopard watchees his prey for a while then silently approaches him and grabs at a second.
I love KOC, he knows what he is doing. Hayward pick pretty much proved that already

Given the circumstances of the team last year when Ty took over, I think it is extremely premature to declare that anyone knows how Ty will coach, or that he has shown us anything. Having a full and healthy roster and a full (hopefully) season will give Ty the space to be his own coach.

It's where you carry an eyeball around in your pocket. The legend is it is the actual eyeball from the man who inspired the character "Shooter" in the movie "Hoosiers".

Or possibly someone from "Deliverance".
