Who would you rather have? DeMarcus Cousins or Enes Kanter?

This years draft is said to be weak but when comparing the first center selected in the last two drafts, Cousins or Kanter, I would rather have Kanter. When we can get the top center in the draft and he is comparable or better than the center is a strong player draft year, I think we made out OK.

Size: Advantage Cousins (wingspan, reach)
Athleticism: Draw (maybe a little advantage Kanter)
Rebounding: Advantage Cousins
Jump Shot: Advantage Kanter
Defense: Draw?
Attitude/Teammate: Advantage Kanter
Conditioning: Advantage Kanter
Basketball IQ: Advantage Kanter

I agree in principle. But, it is hard to say for certain since we had a full season of Cousins in college and now a whole NBA season. On all of the intangibles, I'd prefer Kanter. I THINK but do not KNOW that he will be better than Cousins. Regarding Cousins athleticism...this is just a matter of conditioning. If he were willing to get into the same shape as Kanter, he might be far more athletic.

I love Cousins, but I'd take Kanter. Watched them head-to-head and they have similar skill sets .. with Enes having better motor (by far), better athlete, better shot. They're about equal in the rebound department. Kanter has better handles too. I'm not saying Enes is a lot better (I kow it sounds like it), I'm just saying they are similar talents wih Enes having MUCH more 'want to.'

looks like the Kanter homers were all over this, but i'd take Cousins, easily, Cousins would have gone 1st pick in this years draft

I'm no Kanter homer, but had he played this season aren't people saying the same thing about him? Not to mention, PKM isn't just a Kanter homer, he's a Kentucky homer, therefore he probably knows what he's talking about here. Not saying I wouldn't take Cousins over Kanter, but "easily" may be a reach.

And to PKM, in no way, shape, or form do I consider your homerism to a bad thing. It's insightful.

If Cousins ever gets in shape (he would be far more athletic if he could drop his bodyfat below 10%), I would take him in a heartbeat. That's a huge IF though so I would probably stick with Kanter.

Umm... no one has seen Kanter play in the past 2 years. Kanter hasn't played in the past 2 years. Thats a lot of progress his game has missed. Its one thing to run drills and develop a basketball IQ on paper, its another thing to actually be doing them in the heat of the moment.

I'd take Cousins.

I try to ignore your posts because you seem to be a respected poster on this board, but I find it difficult to find much substance to your hate. I have not even said I'm glad we drafted Kanter.

And which categories would you rate Cousins better than Kanter in my assessment? Jump Shot? Athleticism? Can Cousins dunk from just about the foul line? Who has the better variety of post moves? I think Cousins is stronger, longer and a better rebounder but I think I would take Kanter is just about every other category and DEFINITELY in the intangibles.

i dont know about conditioning but i disagree about rebounding, reb. maybe the best attribute Enes has.
I dont wanna say somethng certain since we didnt see enes play one game in nba, but i would pick him due to attitude reasons.

IF... IF... If Chris Washburn only... If Kirk Snyder only... The IF is part of the equation. Kanter has it and I don't know if Cousins ever will. Kanter has desire and conditioning and appears to have a great attitude and team attitude etc. At this time Cousins doesn't.

Sepanol: I am dead serious when I say this, Kanter and Cousins are two of the best rebounders I have ever seen, seriously.

Time will tell with Kanter, but just going off what we do know i'd take Cousins,he has legit center size and length and is really skilled for being only 20 years old

I've seen him fight and scrap to help his team win and for a young guy showing that toughness early in your career says a lot.

I would love to see this matchup. I would love to see Enas running Cousins down the court and beating him down the court for easy points. Cousins could pound the ball inside though. It would be a fun matchup to watch.

That is VERY fair. I held my own against thousands (literallyO on message boards about Cousins NOT being a head case. I love Cousins, my kids played XBox with him and think he's the best, ever. My endorsement of Kanter isn't homerism, as I love'm both.

Yes, 100%. I don't know the combine numbers off the top of my head .. but in live play, definitely.

Maybe, but is he a better athlete because he is in better shape? Cousins came into the combine last year with 16% body fat, Kanter with 6%.
