I consider the season a success (50 wins) and the post-season a disappointment. Obviously there is room to improve, and I anticipate that they will. My definition of success is simple as I am not one who believes a championship is necessary. I loved watching the team this year and I always believed they could win any game they played. It was fun and exciting and so I voted "Yes."

Worst part of this season is all the posters coming out with some version of ******** “I told you so”.

Some ideas I’ve seen floated on here since yesterday are vomit worthy.

First round exit. Gobert/Mitchell game did not really evolve. No significant addition to the roster. No DL "units" gathered. Udoh over Jerebko. Bradley not figuried it out.
I don't think it was a success season.
One big positive though... coaching staff did great again.

Seems like the quality of posts on the site have gone down hill. Maybe I'm just getting old and can't relate to the newer posters, or maybe I'm tired of hearing the same ol' bs from some of the old ones :). Think it is time to sign off. Stay gold Stokey Boy.

To answer the question. No, we literally finished the same way as last year with DL saying " let's run it back." He has to greatly improve the jazz this year or he has to go. Pretty simple and clear

It was an unqualified failure. I won't say disaster because I've had a good night's sleep now, but it sure felt that way last night.

From multiple players regressing/stagnating, to another year of staying put as far as any acquisitions go, to getting knocked out earlier, to losing to a team with less talent than the Jazz(37% from the field are MVP numbers, right?), to the bungled way the one possible trade was approached.

This season was not a success. It was a big disappointment. Let’s be honest, we were thinking 3rd seed - and we were thinking 2nd round exit at the very least. I guess it could have been an improvement from last year if we had at least taken 2 games from Houston. Something just didn’t feel right all season long - unlike last year. Exum’s injury was a bummer too.

Grade: C

Order of business...

Get Rubio out of here and go get a star PG. Do everything in your power to either get Conley/Walker/Holliday

Upgrade at either the SF or the PF position. Ingles got exposed bad. He needs to be coming off the bench.

Hopefully see if Exum is part of the future once and for all, and if he isn’t, include him in a trade package before he loses all of his value completely.

solid post dude. Agree other than Joe isn't needing to come off the bench But he can't carry the load he has been. And unfortunately i think the trade value for exum boat has sailed after the latest injury. For better or worse we have to see how he pans out next season.

Almost forgot my biggest gripe this season. After 400+ games as a head coach, Quin still doesn't know how to win close ones. It's been a problem from day one. I brought it up in a different thread that the Jazz have consistently done worse than the league average in games that are within 5 points. Some of you have blamed that on the relative youth of our team(last time I checked, we have plenty of vets and this was a huge issue before we even drafted DM), others have blamed the lack of a superstar go-to guy. I think the problem is that Quin has no plan. Or rather, that he doesn't have multiple plans for multiple situations. The Nuggets were a godly 14-3 this year in close games. Now, it can't be because of veterans as outside Millsap, they're all 25 or under. They don't have a player like Harden, LeBron, Lillard, so you can't say they can just give the ball to someone, and he'll make something happen.

Now, the Jazz were 5-10 in games like that this year. In other words, Jazz were 45-22 in games that weren't within 5 points at the buzzer while the Nuggets were 40-25. That's just crazy. That's way too many wins left on the board for a 50-win team like the Jazz. The other teams who won 33% of close games are lottery teams. If the Jazz were just freaking average in this bloody game, we would've had home court advantage. If we were just a bit above average(not talking going 10-5 like the Nuggets or something), we'd have had a real chance at second seed.

You saw this the past 2 weeks. The Jazz were blown out twice and blew out the Rockets once. In the two games that were close, the Jazz completely **** the bed. In the first one of the two, we had the absolute inability to get a stop in the last 2 minutes and giving up a key offensive rebound to PJ Tucker of all people. In the second game, we were utterly unable to get a good shot for anyone but the guy who already airballed an open corner three earlier in the game(was anyone actually shocked when Ricky airballed the shot at the end? anyone????). We can't go into the playoffs having to blow out teams as the only way to win. That's just not realistic. Quin needs to do something. We have an okay offense and a great defense the first 46 minutes of the game. There should be no rational reason for all that to go away in the last 2.

We started to sputter at the end of the regular season with two losses in LA the last week. I think it carried over to games 1 and 2. We were at least competitive in games 3,4 and 5.
