What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

One of these plus Rozier plus Favors is better than last year.

You name the guy or guys we can actually get who are going to make us contenders.

Tobias Harris
someone in a trade (Mike Conley, Kevin Love)
Malcolm Brogdon

Those guys move the needle. Washed up guys and non-scorers don't. They are scraps.

If we're just going to kick rocks, take the league's SCRAPS, and not even going to try to field a contender, move the team to Seattle and stop wasting our time and money by preying on our hope.

I don't think the Jazz are in that place. Or at least I hope to god they aren't.

We could have had like 90% of those guys last year and I'm not 100% convinced Rozier is better than Rubio... I would call that a pretty epic fail.

The only reasons for keeping the roster last year:
-field a competitive team (even if it's not even a challenger to the Warriors)
-go into one of the biggest free agency years in NBA history with a ******** of caproom

If we run it back, we deserve the treadmill. We built it.

Even 2-3 year deals on guys like Danny Green and Rudy Gay would be preferable to most of the guys on that list plus Terry Rozier (an a bad deal... cuz that is the only way to get him).

On the matter of Lindsey behaving like a dumb-fan: Chasing Rozier REEKS of some petty bull **** to get back at the Celtics.

This... so much this.

There is also a chance that Favs had an outlier year this year... healthwise was better than average and shot 64% on 2 pt shots...

Should change the name of the arena to NordicTrack Treadmill arena and use the team slogan of "all in for the second round... maybe"

I guess you have trouble with reading comprehension. You too HH.

Rozier would be an option after we missed on other priorities. Sure I take Tobias, Kemba, Brogdon or Russell. But I choose to live in reality and with backup plans.

I would take 4 years of Rozier at the right cost than 2 years of Conley at $32+ or 4 years of Love at $30.

Here's a wild one... you know how the Jazz were rumored to be trying hard to trade for Kyrie in 2017? I know, I know... you don't think he would ever come to Utah... but... there's one thing to remember about Kyrie... he's very impressionable and easily impressed by the wildest stuff out there - just send missionaries to Kyrie's home and convince him to join Mormonism. Then Bang! Max offer from the Jazz and a place on some Mormon church council. What do you say, guys? Can we do it?

The reality is that Terry will not be had at the right cost because he's restricted... he can make as much noise as he wants but they will just let him hang out there... he can accept the qualifying offer if he really wants out.

It's not that I can't read... I'd just rather have good backup plans.

The only reason to consider guaranteeing Favs salary is to trade him... the fact that we have all this "DL really wants Favs back" is a sign that we are cool with being good and too attached to what we know to trade it for something that could be better. It's concerning... and it might be a sign that our plan is *** and needed to be more aggressive starting a year or so ago.

This seems as good as any other plan... send him some Bruce deep doctrine... really get him in the weeds.

Maybe just maybe they are thinking of resigning Favors cause he’s a good basketball player and a good teammate. So happy that none of you are the GM of our team. We don’t need a ball dominate player. We need consistent shooting. 15 points a game on a nightly basis from another guy or two. Throwing the max at another star would be awesome. But I don’t trust that anyone of them would want to come here. So trusting in that and losing Probably the best back up center is just stupid. So I understand the talk of resigning Favs.

Who doesn't fit with the real 'foundation' pieces of the team. How long do we have to see it on the biggest stage before we accept it?

Yes he is a great backup center, crippling all flexibility for a backup center so we can run it back again is a good move to you?

How does he keep our offense humming? You still have the problem of him being a non-shooter. Who are the 4 sharpshooters you'd need to have on the court with El Brickio? And Ricky isn't even that great a defender anymore. I wouldn't want him back for even the MLE.

The last 20 games and the Rockets series.....you all got EYES! Rubio was basically our MVP! There was a reason we led the league in DUNKS! There was a reason our man broke the dunk record for the history of the entire NBA! There was a reason we averaged nearly 30 assists per game! There was a reason we only lost 3 games out of the 20! And that reason? RUBIO! And that's not counting the numerous bunny shots missed by our big boys during that stretch!

Tell him when he hies to Kolob he'll see it's flat just like the Earth.

Any scenario where we bring Favors back is, at best, a marginal upgrade. I know the Favors issue has been somewhat polarizing to people, in that they only see it as black and white, but having Favors precludes any legitimate changes. Favors and Rozier? Great. That’s like paying an additional 30% to move up two rows at Usana. Yeah, your seats are “better.” Hooray for upgrades via technicality.

Only way it is an on court upgrade is if you say ... “favs we love you we struck out in free agency... we will pick up your option but you are strictly a backup center unless a team plays two bigs... otherwise we will set you free and go get a backup center... we know you are better than this role we have... are we good?”
