We all saw how trendy it was to cheer for the USA during the men's World Cup (I didn't watch a second of it), but 95% of those fans stopped caring about soccer the moment it ended.

How come the women's World Cup doesn't get as big of a buzz? Aren't they the favorites to win it all? That's what I thought I heard on the broadcast.

Personally, I find this game pretty entertaining because the play-by-play announcer has a great accent with funny lingo. Also, these women don't flop and fake injury nearly as much as the men.

However, one could contend the best women soccer players are more manly than the girly men who play on the us men's team.

I think they should just make the sport co-ed.

Well no one gives a damn about women's sports in the world. But, nobody gives a damn about mens soccer in this country either. That's my whole point. Wasn't it a USA-pride thing?
 
I'm a soccer fan and have watched most of the women's world cup, but mainly because there's nothing else on TV at 9:30 a.m. I'll watch pretty much any sporting event that's live that early in the morning. You'll probably see more interest if the women's team makes it to the semi's and the final.

Not really true. Plenty of people are soccer fans now. On another note the Hispanic population is catching up the White population.

All 3 goals against Colombia were really really good...I think all 3 were out of the box or nearly out of the box. Ladies impressed me.

And women play sports? Huh? Since when?

All I know is that Football and Basketball are over and all other sports suck or are too boring. Tiger sucks or is injured or is off jack potting around so I could care less about golf. The well endowed sister sucks at tennis right now. And Anna Kornakova is no where to be found. And baseball is boring without all the homers. Can we call Sammy and Mark back and legalize steroids? I want my homers!

Can fall come now? Can't we just start fall sports now? I want to watch bone crushing hits, Peyton Manning throw for a million touchdowns, SD Chargers start 0-10 and yet somehow make a nasty playoff rush to only be shut down in the first round, hot cheerleaders, endless BCS controversy talk on AM radio and Sportscenter, Lebron fail, Kobe cry, and Kanter play.

All other sports, OUTTA MY WAY! Don't Tread On Me!

Because anytime you have more people on the field than in the stands watching the game, you're not going to hear much of a buzz. No one cares.

Seriously, have you seen the attendance at these games? I think the Orem Flash had more peeps watching than this world cup.

Yes, it IS a USA pride thing, but the popularity of the sport as a whole still comes into play. Soccer sucks, women's sports suck. So while USA women;s soccer will get more buzz than a regular professional women's soccer league (do those exist?), it will still pale in comparison to men's basketball, whether it be Team USA, NBA or even NCAA men's basketball.

Yeah, but the men's World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world, so I can see why people here would get up for the hype every four years. Women's sports? Meh. Really, the only women's sport I've seen that holds a candle to its men's counterpart is tennis.
 
I've been trying to come up with some propaganda to improve viewership of the WWC. I think I've got an ad campaign worked out!

Women's Soccer, You haven't seen soccer till you've seen it played at half speed!

Women's Soccer, Improvisation free!

Women's Soccer, If you have difficulty keeping up with the men's game.

Women's Soccer, Because its only fair!

Women's World Cup, Turn it on and your kids will go outside and play!
