What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

For the record, after waiving and renouncing every player the Nets can AND stretching Crabbe, they still wouldn’t have two max slots. They would have to dump off Dinwiddie, Harris, or Crabbe outright and I am skeptical they can do that with Crabbe (might take two firsts, but if they can keep Dinwiddie and Harris and can get two max guys then that is a no-brainer to me).

On draft night I think they can move #17 and Crabbe for Smith from the Cavs and waive and stretch him.

I don't think they would absolutely say no to trading Dinwiddie, but they might move everyone else with a decent sized contract first.

I think Spencer is worth at least one first and something else... like 1.5 firsts.

Who is going to Brooklyn for those two slots though? Kyrie is one (maybe) the other? Harris? Do we want to help facilitate that?

I don't see the Nets signing any player to a max contract this offseason. Unless they're paying D'Lo the max. I don't think that Kyrie is going there. I don't see any of the other max types going there either. And the Nets have no reason to be in a rush to throw around big money. Marks has built the roster well so far and he still has another 2 or 3 years to keep laying the foundation before their cap flexibility could start to go away when they need to start paying some of these young guys. That will be the time to move for a max guy to take the team to another level.

I think Brooklyn could get Kyrie and Randle this off-season. There are already Kyrie rumors. Randle and Russell have a good relationship from their LA days. If Kyrie got max and Randle got $20, they could figure it out.

D-Lo would be a great fit here. He can create for himself and others. He takes some pressure off of Mitchell. He is very young still and is a solid shooter. 37% from 3 on 8 attempts per game is great. Plus he shot 40% on wide open 3s and 50% in the playoffs, which our system creates a lot of.

We wouldn’t do that until we had Harris. And yes, you bet your *** I would facilitate KD or whoever heading to the east.

K. They can have those.

I imagine they’d dangle Harris before Dinwiddie if they can’t dump Crabbe. I understand this is speculating in fantasy.

Yep. I'm all for Russell. To me, he is right there below Harris.

Russell and Donovan can play the next 10 years together. With Rudy then post Rudy.

Russell, at a full max, would cost $27. If we waived/stretched Korver, we would have $10+ to work with. Maybe Favors comes back if we give him a long term deal making $10+.

I love rumors season... here is a couple things to be aware of... Orlando doesn't have space... even if they lose Vucevic and ross they can only get to about 16M. Minnesota doesn't have space. Not mentioned in this rumor but has been elsewhere... Phoenix... they don't have space.

to me its like the Jazz saying they have interest in Jarret Culver or Ja Morant… yes we have interest, but a lot has to happen for us to be eligible to get them.

Indiana will have to get rid of the caphold for Thad Young to have meaningful space. They might do it and re-sign him with space if they miss. If he isn't made a priority I could see him bolting and it would really hurt them.

Damn, I'm on Exum Island and this still scares me. Some people on here about to be begging for Goran Dragic lol

If that is the case it is likely DM at pg is what they are sinking or swimming with... and if Exum gives them something then great!

Last year I just wanted to do some experimenting to see exactly what kind of team we were working with going forward. The biggest bummer of last season was that we didn't learn anything we didn't already know, while not getting any better as a team overall.

At least this would give us some answers about where we are at, and our needs going forward.

The time to experiment is over. Yes, Dragic is a better option than Exum. So are Beverley, Collison, Augustin, Caruso, and probably even Neto.

I think we have some of those answers but we refuse to accept reality. He had a solid stint last year, but was mostly bad... then he ded.

I still don't believe he was the hangup in the Conley deal... if he was that was really dumb on DL's part... stupid dumb.

If we get Russell, I'm so glad we didn't get Conley. Who cares why right...
