What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Definitely. They hold the cards, though. You gotta wonder if they’re going to pull some serious tampering **** with D-Lo like getting him to sign for way-below market on a 1 + PO with the promise of maxing him the **** out next offseason.

Nah someone would force their hand... the Sacramento Leverages potentially.

If Dan Clayton is right then the Jazz can't take back any salary for Favors if they trade him before his guarantee date in July.

They can push up the date or wait to consummate the trade until after July 6... the trade Brooklyn just made can't be completed until July 6.

For the record, I swap Favors for two first rounders* and Crabbe every day of the ****ing week. That doesn’t mean that’s my first choice for how to use our capspace, but I sure as **** know I prefer that to bringing back our ancient, stupid roster philosophy.

*the move would have been waiving Favors to have that space, not a trade of Favors for Crabbe.

If they trade Favors, it's because his salary counts in a trade (meaning he gets guaranteed to complete the trade). I don't see any scenario where we trade Favors and have him be $0 outgoing.

Also, how great will it be if the Knicks traded Porzingis for all this capspace only to end up with jack ****? I don’t have a reason to hate the Knicks except for their absolutely obnoxious fan-base that think the world owes them everything and that every player is dying to play for a perpetual loser.

They have some good young talent and a different vibe than the Knicks. He might have someone coming with him, but they needed to clear a little space anyway to sign one max guy... now they get a decent young wing and their hand may not be forced with Russell.

If they have Kyrie, Harris, LeVert, Prince, Allen... plus Dinwiddie and get a couple mid tier guys after renouncing Russell then that's solid.

Is he looking to go somewhere that's just solid tho?

I would prefer D-Lo to Dinwiddie. I think he is a much better shooter, younger, and more upside. I like Dinwiddie but I think we need a better 3 point shooter next to Donovan. Almost every advanced stat also shows D-Lo as being better and is 3 years younger.

Honestly I think I prefer D-Lo to Harris. I think its a bigger position of need and harder to fill. Finding a stretch 4 is easy. Plus we already have Crowder who was pretty solid at that position. But I would be happy with any of the 3 I guess. We also have Royce who can play some 4. But there are lots of cheap PFs that can fill in as well. Mirotic might be too expensive but he would be a great pickup for us. But Thaddeus Young, JaMychal Green, Mike Scott(could also be backup Center as well), Jabari, or even Dante Cunningham could all be solid cheap pickups at that position. Oh, plus we have Niang that I think is improving.

Maybe... He's got a championship... not all guys are just about RINGZZZZZZ. He's different.

I think they are after KD... Looking at Brooklyn's ownership/management and surrounding talent... better than what the Knicks have for sure.

Kyrie, LeVert, KD, Harris, Allen with Dinwiddie and Prince off the bench... plus intriguing guys like Kurucs, Musa (meh) and picks 27 and 31.

Knicks have Robinson, DSJ, Knox? I guess you have the 3rd pick but guys like Kyrie and KD are going to look at that like whatevs… guessing RJ barrett doesn't excite them.

Even if it was Jimmy in KD's spot that is a potential EC team for sure.

They would need an upgrade at center. Or Allen would have to take a major defensive leap.

Given their contract situations I'd prefer Dinwiddie... would have to trade something for him so factor that in... buy Dinwiddie is a more efficient scorer at this point... Harris would be way better than D-Lo imo… I understand your argument with the 4 being easier to cover. If you signed Harris I think you could cover pg duties with DM, Ingles, Harris... use Royce at the other wing spot and be damn good.

I think this is good for us no matter what.

Well, that likely means BRK isn't bring back Russell. Hope we go for it. He's not perfect but he's already good and still young enough to expect real growth going forwards.

I would assume that Donovan Mitchell would give us the edge over Indiana or Dallas for D-Lo. It seems like they're actually pretty good friends.

I'm imagining that D-Lo/Mitchell could pretty easily turn into a McCollum/Dame-esque backcourt. With Gobert, that's a contending team.

KD ain't going to the Knicks alone... Kyrie to the Nets throws a really interesting kink into the thinking on how things would go this offseason. Kyrie and KD kinda make more sense in Brooklyn... would be all the big market fun without the intense Knicks scrutiny... also no James Dolan. No MSG I guess would be a downer.

Yeah, I agree its good for us either way. I get the salary thing but I would rather not give up picks and a player which is what is required to get Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie is an efficient scorer and would be good for us. I think D-Lo has star potential and can spread the floor much better. I am not as big of fan of Harris as everyone else is but I would be happy to get him. Hopefully Ingles has a bounce back year as well and can be as good as he was the year before.

I was already geeking out just thinking about draft night, now the trades are starting....a full 14 days before the draft.

D-Lo definitely wouldn't be my first choice but I would still be stoked to get him... he would be the biggest free agent signing in franchise history. He's still just 23 and is already an all star caliber player. The inefficiency is concerning but I have no doubt he would flourish under Quin and our excellent developmental staff.
