What's new

Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

I swear to jeebus... why do we compare draft guys just to guys that are playing now... there are 28 other teams with players too.

Some good food for thought around draft time is the case of Villanova's Kyle Lowry. Who was part of a vicious three guard attack alongside former Jazzman Rando Foye (projected top-10 pick) and Allen Ray (not to be confused with Ray Allen)

The reason why I say Lowry is a good player t look back on is this; A wise man could have seen the fire in his eyes back then, and known he was gonna be the proverbial cream that rises to the top... and he was a projected 20's type of guy..

Pat Bev is a guy, 2nd rder, he used to actually be more of a SG in college ppl forget, but everyone loves pat Bev at this point most teams fanbases would welcome him with open arms.

Lowry is really levels even beyond that, to the point where he gets paid more and therefore is hated on by tons of fanbases.. The way he came out guns blazing in game 6 was great.

one of you will surely try to make some counterargument, probably post some tables with stats and avanced pooptrics. but old Jerry west, who many regard as the greatest exec ever to lace em up, has always subscribed to the "fire in the eyes" test, i guess it's liike that rocky themesong type ofdeal, if thAT SORT of thing does occur, Lowry had "it" , the eye of the tiger, and that was on display back in college. /endrant

good finals! wish Kerr would have used cousins a bit more tho. glad this didnt drag to game 7 tho with klay injured.

On @Handlogten's Heros idea of trading Exum and #23 for Bjelica and #40:

One of Paschall, KZ, Okeke, Bazley, King, Admiral, or Jerome will be there at #40. I’m so fine with that unless someone falls hard to #23 and you just can’t pass on it (although I don’t see that happening).

The Kings , I think, would do that trade in a heartbeat. Gotta remember they forfeited their 1st rd pick in a horrid salary dump years ago, Vlade has already dodged a major bullet in only surrendering the 14th pick, but if they could land back in the 1st for just that... and take on Exum, who could be useful there possibly, given then add more shooting at guard too...

KZ and Bazley especially will not be on the board at 40, Jerome too.

Kings also hold 47 and 60 in this draft, if u really look at that deal from their end, i cant imagine why they say no.

Harrison Barnes is gonna opt into that player option most likelly, they'll make a big smoke show about not resigning wcs, and then resign him, will leave them with not much to spend, so they'll get a 1st rd pick, exum, a fa or 2, 2 2nd rd picks... not a bad return for them given the forfeiture and really they hit the lotto for the bagley pick last year so still riding that momentum.. and with buddy heild getting 2 years older this year, exums right on their timeline... all adds up to a playoff team for sure, they are pushing 50 wins if healthy, maybe 55.

That being said, Exum would have a near 0% chance of sticking there past the 2021 summer when his deal expires, where they will give De'Aaron Fox a mega deal and also pay a decent penny on Harry Giles.

Who are the best players in the league who only finish with their dominant hand?

De'Aaron Fox is so blazingly fast he can finish with his left in situations most PG's simply cannot, he can kinda win at the point of attack at will, he's that fast.. Fast enough to create the sort of space and time that it doesnt matter... sometimes he falls in love with it, it's ultra rare when he gets caught, mostly he will get caught ttry to do a left handed layup on the right side of the rim where a right handed layup would be sheileded...

he can get the defense in compromised situartions other PG's can't either, also he had by-far the most dunks of any true PG in the league almost all with the dominant hand and really a suprising amount of them in half-court offense type of thing, he is rather impossible to stay in front of, he doesnt just beat his man he leaves the whole defense inthe dust..

A lil too much is made of Bagly only finishing with his left, u will see him finish right if u really watch them play constantly, but Bagley also possesses an excellent repitorie to just keep going at you with the left, cuz it's really more of a siakiam type of "going at you with momentum and the threat of the quick ez finish, and if the defense is back; spin back to the hookshot" (with ofc the left hand).. Bagley is particularly adept with that counter-move spin, it's like his go-to move really..

Randle? That dude dribbles right, jumps up, does a jumping kick that will destroy someone's balls some day, and contorts to throw up a shot with his left.

Okay I don't know much about this stuff, but isn't Carsen Edwards a terrible defender, or at least projects to be one in the NBA? Why are we comparing him to VanVleet or Lowry?

Would the dude even see the court in a playoff series? I kind of like the idea of him, especially in a weak draft as a late pick. But these comparisons aren't making sense to me.

The kid is a gym rat. Its clear our FO likes him. He is already molding his game after VanVleet:

I like that we seem to like Edwards. Potentially explosive offensive player which we could really use. If we're going for more of a sure thing Williams/Thybulle would be my preferred guys. Would be quite happy with any of them.

I think ambidexterity is an interesting topic. I was trying to think of a legit all star level player who can't at least finish with his off hand at a decent rate. I couldn't think of one. Randle is on the fringe I suppose. Fox too I guess. There are some prospects in this class who can't go to their off hand at all really. Would make me nervous if I was drafting one of them.

Thanks for the obvious, Captain Hindsight.

This are always kinda hilarious... let’s get some video of tony Bradley working out in an open gym and see how many shots he hits and if he can dribble.

I know Bol is a good shooter but people get so overhyped about a 2 minute workout video where a guy is going 1 on none.

**** it, draft Bol Bol! Throw him at the 4. If someone blows by him, we have Rudy to cover!

That’s not really how basketball works... what benefit do we get on offense playing him at the 4 that we don’t get with Jae or Royce?
