I don't mean the Conley trade, I mean the fact that we're not including him in the deal to Memphis. We're delusional.Fear of striking out and having nothing left but Love

News out now is, kyrie signing with the nets good as done, and that dlo willl not be staying
Perhaps. I just seem to read that as "OMG we've gotta keep Favors at all costs" kind of reasoning. Perhaps it means waiving his non-guaranteed, but I'm inclined to believe DL is nervously sitting on a toilet somewhere thinking "but Favors is a part of the solution."Not necessarily. Utah can create a tuckfon of cap quickly and can simply eat Conley's contract for picks/talent after FA starts, while still having some cash left over for roster needs (stretch four, backup PG, etc.). It simply depends when the deal happens.
Salaries don’t have to match, the Jazz just have to be kept under the cap, correct? So theoretically the jazz would only have to send $16 million (or whatever the exact number is) in salary to get back conley’s $32 million. Assuming the jazz renounced rights to everyone but Favors.I suppose we could match salary by trading Exum, Crowder, Korver, Bradley, and Neto, but that'd be a lot more stupid than just trading Favors and Exum.

Please correct me if I got this wrong. Nets can sign and trade D-lo, but if they match an Restricted FA offer, they can't trade him until January?
Wow we may actually pull this off
If Exum is the key to Conley coming to Utah....then would RJ Barrett become the 2nd pick in the draft ? Because it makes no sense to trade Conley for a PG then draft a PG also.
Utah Jazz

The Jazz would have interest in Russell, but only if the Nets renounce his cap hold, making him an unrestricted free agent. As a player, the Jazz like Russell. He’s a dynamic presence in pick and roll and the Jazz have one of the best PNR bigs in the league in Rudy Gobert. Russell is also a dynamic isolation player, capable of creating his own offense off the dribble, which the Jazz sorely need in support of Donovan Mitchell. Most importantly, Russell and Mitchell have a close and longstanding relationship. However, the Jazz are very unlikely to make a substantial offer sheet to Russell or any RFA, because to clear the needed space, they would be forced to renounce the rights to Derrick Favors, and they aren’t going to do that for less than a sure thing. So, if the Nets sign a significant free agent or two and Russell shakes loose on the market, the Jazz may explore. But if Russell stays an RFA, it’s unlikely the Jazz pursue.
Leroux’s salary cap view: Even if they let Ricky Rubio walk, Utah is still well short of an offer at or over $20 million starting salary unless they let Favors go as well. Losing Rubio, Sefolosha and Udoh only leaves them with $14.8 million in space. Their other not fully guaranteed contracts are Favors, Kyle Korver (partially guaranteed), Raul Neto, Georges Niang and Royce O’Neale. The last three do not move the needle much because they are low salaries, plus the Jazz presumably want to keep some or all of them. Korver is not enough either so it likely comes down to Favors.
We've all done the math. So follow me here:
$33 million (cap space after renouncing Rubio, Thabo, Udoh and pretty sure Neto)
-$18 million (Favors)
= $15 million (July cap space)
Conley is $32.5 (starting July 1)
Exum is $9.6
Korver, if guaranteed, is $7.5
Bradley is $2
= $19 million
I'm pretty sure that in July we could trade Exum, Korver, Bradley and whatever pick for Conley
$15 million of cap space
+
$19 million (Ex, KK, TB)
=
$34 million
We would add Conley and keep Favors AND Crowder. In my mind, this is the only way Conley makes sense. If we only gave up Exum, #23, TB and Korver, it's a great trade. Outside of that, especially a future 1st too, screw that.
