What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I believe in him as well if he is healthy. He isn't going to be a shooter like that. But if he shoots open 3s well and stays healthy I expect good things from him. Even if not, just healthy he can be a really solid role player. Lock down defense and scoring burst as backup pg.
If he shoots that open 3 consistently he could be anything. Much better than a backup

The Jazz are not waiving Favors for a RFA not knowing his team wouldn't match. Especially not being able to offer something crazy.

The wizards value favors over Portis which is why they tried to get him in trade talks with jazz ultimately breaking down and sending him to Chicago instead for Portis. Portis wants about 16 mil cause he turned down an extension in Chicago which is another reason for him being traded to Washington. Wizards don’t want to pay that much and are about to lose both their forwards for nothing. A sign and trade gives them two decent forwards in ingles and favors to replace the guys they are going to lose either way. It’s not a gamble on whether or not you get an RFA if they do a sign and trade. Maybe get them to throw in a pick and we got three young forwards to replace an aging one and one that is great but doesnt fit.

Take a second and think. If Dante gets a jumper. He will be great...
If Favors had a jumper he’d be great. If Mitchell were 6’7” he’d be unstoppable. If Oden had knees he’d have been an MVP. If Kirilenko has a heart he may be a champion. If Towns has a brain we’d be talking about him in the same breath as Duncan and Dirk. And, yes, if Exum had a jumper he’d be good.

But none of the above have any of the above, so what’s your point?

Players can always learn to shoot better. U can't grow

They can get better but their is a ceiling for most guys... their have been a ton of dudes that “just need a jumper” and they will be awesome.

Dante been in the league a while not sure he’s ever 5% better than he currently is.

Satoranski, portis and first round pick for favors and Exum

I dont think that Ben Simmons will ever improve his jumper significantly. He doesn't think he needs too. He has the attitude that he's great already and doesn't need to improve his weaknesses.

From Tony Jones' Q&A on The Athletic

Just so I can sleep at night and not have too much FOMO. If this trade had never happened, what would you have said the Jazz’s percentage odds were at landing D’Angelo Russel? Or Harris?
Very good for Harris. I would go far enough to say the Jazz were frontrunners for him. Less for Russell. I think the Pacers lead there. But the Jazz would have had a nice chance for him as well

So was the jazz the leader for Harris?
I think so
You just quoted Jones saying what he thinks, not Harris saying it?

The player isn't gonna say what he thinks before free agency starts. But I think you're underestimating the stuff that good reporters hear from agents, players, and teams. I don't think he's just guessing randomly. There has been Tobias to Utah smoke for like two years. Either way, Conley was Utah's #1 priority anyway.

That would be dope too! I like satoranski and Washington may not pony up the cash for him so voila sign and trade. I like the rookie they picked up Rui and would love to snag him as a side chip in a deal.

Something like that makes sense. The Wiz are in cap hell with no hopes or improving or even retaining their guys (especially if they pick up Jabari' s option).
