What makes you think kemba is better on defense?

Kyrie is bigger, younger, more efficient offensively by a pretty significant margin, and is objectively a better defender.

Kyrie is better on offense and was more efficient. Although he was allowed to be more efficient due to not being the only player the other team needs to worry about on offense. Kyrie had a lot more help around him then Kemba did.

Based on watching them both play. Kryie often takes plays off and gets blown by a lot. Kyrie lost in the playoffs because he tried to be the primary defender on players and 1 on 1 got destroyed by them. If you want to go by stats Kemba has a career higher DWS, DBPM, and the same Defensive rating. Although I am not a fan of defensive stats for individuals. Kyrie has been on much better teams that helps with those stats.

Celtics were a worse team with Kyrie than they were with out him. Irving had a negative net rating this year in the playoffs.

Last year Kyrie's dbpm and defensive rating were better than kemba pretty comfortably. I put more stock in recent production over career because that is more relevant if we are talking now and in the future, but i wasn't aware of the career numbers. Because of that, I'm okay with calling it even.

Assist% also goes Kyries way. And again, everything else being equal, I'll always default to bigger and younger.

In regard to you last paragraph- that is true which is why it's funny that the celtics are going to sign an older, smaller, and less efficient version of Kyrie.

Last year Kyrie played on a good defensive team with defensive teammates. That greatly boosts those stats.

If things were equal I would go with younger and bigger. In this case we have seen that Kyrie was a bad fit and hurt his team. His poor leadership and problems with teammates have been well evidenced. Especially when Kyrie almost single handily lost the playoffs for them trying to be the main defender that got owned in iso over and over again. As well as chucking up really bad shots. He took 20 shots per game at 38% from the field.

Maybe on a different team I would take Kyrie but no the Celtics.

Kemba, at 6' would get killed on switches in the playoffs. They would target him every time and destroy him.

Just like other short players like CP3 or Conley? Or like how that just happened to Kyrie but he chose it and got destoryed? Or like the Heat did to Kemba last time the played in the playoffs? When Kemba played great defense on a prime Dragic and slowed him down greatly?

I know this is a basketball forum, but I assume most of you have heard of "The Curse of the Bambino," correct? For those of you unaware of this curse, in essence the Boston Red Sox were supposedly cursed and unable to win the World Series for 86 years (1918-2004) after trading away Babe Ruth to the Yankees. Given that the Celtics appeared poised to be an East Coast perennial favorite for years to come just a couple years ago, and all that seems to be crumbling following the acquisition of Hayward, I would love it if 75 years from now when the Celtics haven't won a world title since 2008, Celtics fans are still blaming the Curse of the Gordino. The crumbling did seem to begin with his acquisition, and while I know some blame Kyrie, I will always give full credit to Hayward. Thank you Gordo!

Boston is not contending if they sign Kemba. So I don't know why they are interested. What they need to do is rebuild around Tatum/Brown. Aim for a timeline 3-5 years from now. But hey if they want to do it I won't complain. The longer they struggle to get into contention the better.

I wish the Lakers would sign Cousins to a max salary. I'd hate the NBA again if Kawai goes there.

In addition to this AD has waived his trade kicker which means the Lakers now have $32 million in cap space.
LOL... I bet AD won't get any under the table compensation from the Lakers, Lebron and Rich Paul through any other business... laughable. They are turning the league into a joke.

It's ironic the Lakers are searching for additional stars when they already have the rights to one right now. Go get em Zanik!

Are we calling Caruso a star now? Seems like they will hold on to him now, but who knows.

Correct he will likely be a multi time all star. If he signs an offer on July 6 they can't keep him because his cap hold jumps. He hasn't made any real nba money yet... so I'm not sure it'd take a big offer at all to get him to sign.

This makes me nervous that the Lakers will land Kawhi. If so that is another super team and if healthy they will easily win it all.
