News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Okay, so just for a 2nd rounder. Better than nothing.

I doubt we do it but should. It’s the type of value squeeze that we sometimes bypass.

I’d call Sacramento and see if I could dump Bradley and get a second. I would think it’d be fair.

You know what? I'm in... lets do it. I'm sick of watching people blaming players for not fitting, coaches for not having the balls to bench players that supposedly don't deserve to be on the floor. I'm sick of this constant search of the perfect fit BS. We fixed the PG fit... I don't want another year where we scapegoat a player that doesn't deserve it. Let Favors go and lets see what this team can do without any excuses and without scapegoats to blame. Lets see what this team can do with the perfect fitting players that are supposed to solve all/most our problems.

Waive Favors. Get Mirotic for as little money as possible and lets go.

It doesn’t have to be Niko but I think the best version of this roster has a different type of player at the 4 and we have to have that cap flexibility to pivot...

I’d take Ariza, Green, Gay, Aminu at the 4 too and see what else we could add.

The pipe dream is to land Lamb and Green/Ariza. We’d have a starting 4 that can shoot and Lamb gives our perimeter rotation a **** ton of optionality... Royce plays minutes at the 4.

Lamb provides bench scoring and creation and protects us from injury with DM, Conley, Ingles. I think he goes in the just above mid level range. Not sure he is a player Quin would love for.

I don't think that this Lakers deal changes things much for them. I think they still get Russell and that the extra savings allow them to retain Bullock's caphold to keep him.

Let's see what happens.

I honestly think one of two things is going to happen.

1) A max free agent decides he wants to sign here even if it's for a little less than his max. Then the Jazz explore their trade options with Favors/Exum.

2) The more likely scenario. The Jazz engage in talks with a few max free agent types but all decide to go elsewhere for more money. The Jazz keep Favors and fill out the roster with what they have to work with.

I don't see moves like waiving or trading Favors to pick up guys like Portis, Mirotic, Bjelly. Those are lateral types of moves at best. Exchanging defense for shooting. The Jazz will be looking for a clear and decisive upgrade.

Favors, Bradley and Neto for Winslow and Olynyk.

Miami gets out of luxury hell and opens close to 2 max spots for 2020. Favors actually fits them really well.

We get two players who fit. Winslow at PF and Olynyk as bench C.

Dumb question:

Can the jazz decline Fav’s option, then re-work another contract? (I missed learning about this wrinkle).

Thanks JFC

Yes, but he has to clear waivers. I think it's possible, others think no chance. TJ says he thinks Favors won't re-sign if we waive him.

^this is a joke, sorry...

Hah. I read that tweet knowing it was clearly parody, but then I began to think I shouldn’t be so assuming and thought perhaps they really are dumb enough.
