Trade Favors. We got to. We can't afford to lose him for nothing. If even a 2nd rounder, don't just let him walk.
Won't they simply pick up the option and play him next year? That's the most likely outcome IMHO.

...and here's one that is NOT a joke:

James Dolan on July 6 - "Terry and Cousins were always our targets with the 2 max slots... print anything bad and I'll ban your ***. Now to the important business... me and the straight shots are kicking of our "Born on Third Base World Tour" hope to see you guys there."

Mark Stein said on Bill Simmons's podcast that there have been like zero whispers about Tobias Harris and that the playoffs did not help him. But he did still say he thinks he gets a nice 4 year deal from someone.

It’s been kicking around in the back of my mind that he might actually not get a max offer. If his market is anywhere south of that, go ****ing get him. I know he’s not a top-flight player, and a max or close to it is probably an overpay, but his skill set and our needs are tailor-made. That 20% more that he provides than Niko can be the difference between a first-round exit and the finals in a conference that is going to be a battle royale.

I’ve had some doubts about him landing a max. If he got $26/year, that would not surprise me. That’s right what we could make available, too.

Makes sense. Utah needs to be working some back-channels right now.

Harris will get 5 year max from Philly... likely another team or two will give it too.

Especially if Leonard goes to either LA team and/or Butler lands in Houston.

Jazz hit a homer with Conley. But it’s feeling more and more like the Jazz need to hit another.

So....lakers got 32m in space with like 4 people on the roster, wtf can they do?

Signing another max player will leave them with close to 0....so wtf? How do they fill out the rest?

Luxary tax?

They'll have to fill out the rest of the roster with their second round pick, whoever they sign with the room MLE and a bunch of guys on vet minimum contracts. I'm sure there will be a few guy's that will be willing to take a significant pay cut to sign with them and try to win a ring.

So I’m down to take Danillo Gallinari, but that doesn’t happen unless the Jazz take him into space outright, which requires trading Exum for at least $5 million less salary. Swapping Favors doesn’t give them a second max, it doesn’t leave them close. I think that is a worthy use of that space if you can get it. You could make an argument he’s better than Tobias.

Bojan Bogdanovic is another player you could try and use the Favors cap number for.
