News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Yep.

(There’s also the idea of trading Exum for a 4... like Bjelica... assuming the FO ever wakes the **** up)
Ain't gonna happen. Eternal Potential >>>>> actual performance

Players I have no desire for like Vuc and Barnes getting big contracts makes me happy. Spend you other small markets! SPEND!

More players than money. There will be good players taking less than they wanted. It is another reason to let Favors walk....another team will chew up their cap space on him.

I think the NBA sucks either way. Super teams make it so boring. Brings no competitive spirit to the game. If the Jazz weren’t in Utah I wouldn’t even be a fan of the league.

Food for thought; The NBA is not even remotely close to Formula 1 racing as far as being monopolized by super teams, it's a fact too not really an opinion, there's a mountain of conclusive evidence...

Mercedes has won 75% of the races in the past 6 years and like 57% of them have been won by their top driver; Lewis Hamilton.

If you actually use formula 1 as a comparison point the NBA has extreme parity... There;s actual rules and regulations here that work as intended...

Well yeah, players I do not want getting big contracts makes it easier to give up Favors. I just don't want to be around at closing time choosing between Rhondae Hollis Jefferson, Stanley Johnson, and Ish Smith while Derrick heads off to the Clippers to spend the rest of his career kicking our ***.

Or, you could have just used MLB baseball for an example, like a normal person :)

200 players. ~40% of the entire NBA is a free agent this year. Favors and Exum still on the roster next week?

nah but ppl talk like the NBA is ridden with all these terrible loopholes, and thats why there's a lack of parity, it's definitely not that way....

That is really a far too convenient explanation to be plausible, at least IMHO... for the most part they do a good job correcting themselves.

a sport like formula 1 on the other hand has a whole bunch of rules and regulations which teams of all varying budgets immediately circumvent with ease, and the ones who do it the best like MErcedes can take foothold in an advantage and never relinquish it.... baseball has its loopholes for sure, but their gravity pales in comparison to what im talking about in F1 ---- It's really a far more extreme example..

That is about MArket value for Harrison Barnes, he is a solid starter in this league, Harrison Barnes plays markedly stronger defense than anyone else they have at that SF/PF combo spot......

4 years ~85MM.. thats about right...

I swear do y'all remember the old Harrison BArnes thread i made? @Wes Mantooth is still bitter to this very day..

The point I'd always make is that he's actually still trade-able at a high value, and seeing a deal like this confirms it remember we're talking about an Olympic gold Medalist and NBA champion here... Still pretty young too..

Does Favors re-sign next summer?

The NBA really need to implement a real hard cap and no max contracts. That's the only way to get rid of super teams. Until then small market teams will never have a fair chance.
If the warriors keep Durrant and Klay they will have a salary of 1/4-1/3 of a billion freaking dollars a year. Teams like the Jazz would never ever be able to afford such things.

It would still happen. Stars would take pay cuts to join their all star buddies. The reality is there is no more feeling of accomplishment for hard work. Lebron couldn’t get it done in Cleveland so he had to join Miami to get it done. Where is the satisfaction of failing for years and finally winning one. Or ****, even for Malone and Stockton getting there. It becomes more special more meaningful imho. The instant gratification in society today has ruined the NBA in my opinion
