What's new

The official: Thank you Favors thread.

Any team that starts Ronnie Brewer isn't going to win a championship. That team had as many flaws as last year's Jazz team, actually more. They had three players who couldn't shoot from outside: Boozer, Brewer and AK. Lakers were a better team, period. And they knew how to defend the Jazz...just guard Okur and Williams outside, let the other 3 shoot.
We’re talking about 2007, not 2008-2010.

I saw a poll on he facebook jazz page asking if the jazz should retire favors jersey. Yes is leading the poll by a lot.

I always thought that you should only retire jerseys of hall of fame type players. Or at least players that make a few all star games. Or at least players that play more than 23 minutes per game and finish the majority of games for you.

Maybe im wrong though and the only requirement for retiring a jersey is that they were on the team a long time. Jarron collins was a jazzman for 8 years. When do we retire his hersey?

Yeah I wouldnt trust a Facebook poll, I get the feeling is more sentimental than reality. DFav can go up in our own sentimental rafters next to Memo and Millsap.

As for AK I was hot and cold on his career. He was incredibly talented but sometimes didnt show it. But advanced stats really show his impact - he is #50 in VORP in NBA history(#3 on jazz only behind stockton and malone). He is also #4 in jazz win shares. And the #47 actually means something to jazz fans. So sure throw it up there for AK-47.

So why do you place the blame for the 1-4 loss to SA in WCF on AK? Memo shot like horse **** in the playoffs. Neither Fisher nor Harpring stepped up. Boozer was Boozer. Only DWill stood out.
I don’t blame him for it. But I will say that if he had Jazz DNA we’d have a banner in the rafters.

His is a situation where his number shouldn't be retired, but it would be nice if there was a ring of fame (maybe only football teams do that) where their name is added in the stadium. I would put Favors in a Jazz Ring of Fame. I would also put guys like Thurl Bailey, Memo, Harpring (though some of that is him being the pbp guy for so long) as well. If Deron didn't leave with the circumstances he did he would easily be a candidate, and frankly, I would put him in there as is now.

30 minutes interview with Favs on ESPN 700:

Love Favs! Very positive interview overall...

Also... talks about Dante a bit and sheds some light into why the Jazz are so high on him. He said the summer/camp before Warren fell on his shoulder and screwed up his season, he was the best player in camp.
Great interview, great guy. He definitely deserves some love when he comes back.

Whoa. Rudy Gobert and Rookie Donovan Mitchell were in that camp too, no? Favs getting my hopes up for Ex again.

Cheering for Favs going forward just like most. Good dude.

I guess we have to add Favors to the list of idiots who think Exum is going to be good and believes in him. It's a bad list Snyder, Mitchell, DL, Favors,...

Good interview, listened to it on the way into work, damn decent bloke, shame to see him go, hope he goes well at the Pelicans, just not too well.

It was good but it never worked out. Definitely won us some games and hopefully you don't destroy us later. Thank you Favors. Please don't go to the Lakers so I have to hate you

I think it worked out well for many years and eventually ran its course. We relied on Favors for years when we were slumping and couldn't get it together. He has always been there for the team and the fans. I will miss him, but it's time that we move on. I will always have love for Favors. Very few Jazzmen in our history have held it down the way that Favors did.
