George Bush may be smart, but he sure didn't act like it.

Sarah Palin is absolutely a moron, which is sad... because it takes away from her hotness... same with Bachmen who may in fact be the stupidest candidate the GOP has/will ever put up.

But the president doesn't have to be good looking, but we do expect the president to be somewhat intelligent... which makes your argument even more asinine...

and the GOP would do the same thing to Dem's if they knew how to...

With that said, I'm also guessing our genetic make up may have something to do with it which led to it being more socially accepted and it has just grown further with social media being what it is today. For example I remember reading that subconsciously "good looking" people are helped/treated nicer in similar situations then people who may not be as aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it was believed it was tied to our genetic code of "making the heard stronger".
 
//r00t for jazz: doesn't it seem like your reasons should make it so that appearance were something people are more accepting of other's ridiculing?

Would you have preferred Neo-Maxi-Zoom-Dweebie! Or geek or nerd? Guess those can be taken as insults but with positive aspects towards ones intelligence. Or are you just mad the idiot wasn't prefaced with a physical insult as well?
Also the "idiot" incident was it because of acting like an idiot because you can do something idiotic (stupid) but not actually be stupid but of course if these actions are repeated then eventually your actions define who you are.

Not that me or my opinion matter or should matter anyway. Since I decided long ago what others say or call me is the absolute truth (most of which would get me banned and will be filtered) so I am just a retarded ugly albino fire crotched dumb **** that sucks at all things that is life.
 
It's not a matter of what I would prefer. The question is why is it more acceptable to insult someone's intelligence rather than their physical appearance? Both are to a large extent outside of the person's control, but they can both be improved by the person with work and or help from the medical community.

No real mention of maturity. Pretty much sticks to things that would be deemed offensive to most people. In fact that term is included in one of the definitions.

I imagine it would have been more accurate to state that they are immature rather than idiots, if commenting on maturity was the intent. Either way, I think it could be deemed offensive.
 
Only if the context is "I'm NOT saying this to insult your intellect, but rather, your maturity. You're an idiot." That's the ONLY way I could see context mattering. But thats not even really relevant because your still saying what your saying. If I said "I'm not saying this to call you fat and ugly, but rather to call you worthless. You're fat and ugly" I'm still calling you FAT and UGLY!!!!!
