I think there’s a debate to be had on how best we should tackle white supremacy. To me, I think we’ve seen over the last few centuries what happens when we permit a toxic ideology to ferment. Reconstruction after the civil war was halted because commitment towards equality faltered and white supremacy was enabled to continue. We’ve seen it with trump, coddling his tweets and followers, not taking anything he says seriously. I think we should treat white supremacy as the hateful terrorist ideology that it is. Those who support it should be shamed and lose positions of power. It should be given real focus at the FBI and known social media and white supremacist message boards should be monitored and possibly shut down by law enforcement.

Trump owns the biggest megaphone, but he’s not alone. Here are just a few tweets from republicans and Fox News hosts who have fed this hateful ideology:









How should white supremacy be dealt with?
 
White Supremacy Hour on Fox News. Personally, my favorite is the 4th one, on South Africa. This prompted media outlets in South Africa to ask Carlson who his source was in South Africa as there weren’t any blacks slaughtering white farmers or stealing land, as he had reported. But it worked perfectly for him, as it was a dog whistle to white supremacists and those willfully ignorant here; it kept them in fear and paranoia of the brown and black people here in America.









 


I don't know what the solution is, but I don't think there should be a place for a show like Tucker Carlson's on the air.

Deplatforming is a good first step, and has been effective in fighting isis recruitment online. We should employ similar strategies with white supremacists as well.
 
Days after a terrorist targeted the Latinx community, our own government is stealing immigrant parents from their children with no warning, and no thought given to the children whatsoever.
