Why is Luther wright a mistake? They took a flyer on a late first round pick who turned out to have an undiagnosed mental issue. No one could foresee that. They didn't burn assets to get him. Utah even stepped in and continued to pay him to help him through a very difficult time in his life. How exactly is that a blunder? Did they ignore blatant warning signs? No. Did they pass up on some obvious hall-of-famer who was drafted at 30 or something? No. They had a late first round pick that didn't pan out. That never happens, right? I disagree that drafting wright qualifies as a mistake. It was very unfortunate, but really fortunate for him that he landed in Utah because how many other teams would eat the salary to help someone in a devastating life situation?Again, no Luther Wright here... people have short memories
