Well, i have heard that the only problem when working in Poland or for a polish company is a sometimes a very annoying supervisor. As i have to anyway transit through the Poland when visiting some other European country, i have never encountered any hostility with the exception of the general car traffic (which is crazy compared to traffic in Czech republic, Croatia or Austria). It seems that Poland has a lot of undiscovered WRC Rally talents :).
Of course, i have tried to say the basic words in polish when staying at hotels, buying something and tried to show that family values are important to me. Never-ever have i thought that it is a polite to wave a rainbow flag during the sunday morning prayer in front of the altar at the local church. My wife had an over 10 year long career in company which most of the time was under control of a Polish company which was again under control of a big French company (main supervisor for my wife was a frenchman who lived in Poland with his polish wife). She never encountered any hostility despite she was a foreigner and when she was in work interview the polish ex bosses even answered the calls of the recruiting company.
So yes, i had to choose where to work one year and the options are either Gdansk or Budapest vs Baltimore or San Francisco then of course i would choose Budapest or Gdansk.

Yes, I am Polish. I live in Belgium since 15 years but I have family and friends there, visit it often and follow polish medias on daily basis. I don't know if it makes me enough "expert" on the subject in your eyes.
If you want to discuss the level of democracy basing it on your short personal experiences while visiting some country than we end up having that ridicoulous discussion where you don't even try to answer Thriller's or mine arguments but keep on saying you haven't notice any of that yourself.
And you know.. I was twice in Russia for couple of weeks, it was great, people were very friendly, I could work there if I wanted, they really like Putin and I didn't see human rights violation with my eyes.. Hell, why everyone keeps complaining about democracy there?!

What could be the approximate value (i.e retail price) of those firearms? Being a male chauvinist (according to my wife :) ) i find it hard to believe that a such a nice lady would buy such amount of firepower with her own money? Maybe she just a South Park or Paul Verhoeven fan?

Edit: OK, after looking her posts on the Twitter - i am even more confused :-). Like the only shopping possibility near her home is a firearm store. Assuming she and her friends are not Paul Verhoeven, Heinlein and South Park fans and just like act like firearm lovers and hard core republican supporters from the Grand Theft Auto universe.

I don't know, I polish my stock every day. Rub my barrel. And my wife likes to finger her trigger. It's pretty addictive.

It was believed that for military purposes your needed a larger, heavier projectile. The .223 was considered not powerful enough for military purposes.

No it’s not. Although they mention ammunition the title and the article are specifically about the gun. Try reading the article again.
 
My six year old just had to tell me about her “lockdown” training today. What walls to hide behind, locking the door, not making any sound, how to stand on the toilet if you’re in the bathroom, how to identify cops as opposed to shooters, rally points...what a sick ****ing world we are in.

I'm very familiar with the introduction of what eventually is called the M-16 in the military and why people were hesitant about it. It is a gun designed around the .223 cal/5.56mm round. That article is asking the question of if that round is a good choice for military service, it is a smaller, lighter round that fires at a higher velocity, has a flatter trajectory and is less prone to wind. But it can't shoot through a tree like the AK-47's 7.62x45 round can. It is less effective against armor. It was a big change to base military ammunition on such a small calibre round (they're calling it .22 centerfire in the article, today it is referred to as .223cal or 5.56mm).

The M-16 is a military rifle that fires in full auto. The current AR-15 is a semi-auto rifle based on that design. The article calls it an AR-15 because that's what Armalite called it at the time. When the military picked it up they named it the M-16. When it was re-introduced some time later as a semi-auto rifle they used the original name AR-15.

This stuff makes me sick to my stomach and glad I don't have kids. Hard to imagine this stuff isn't going to have long lasting effects on future generations.

For what it’s worth, this daughter is intellectually advanced and she showed no fear of this. She understood what she was saying. She talked about “bad guys” (note it wasn’t bad people, be better men) shooting her or kidnapping her. Those teaching it placed considerable time and thought into this. Kudos for that.

But even with the care, general love and intense thought placed into this it will have a real affect on our children.
