So Locke has been t he owing out the worry about worst case scenario with this team and was wondering opinions on it.

it is a team full of great guys, the Jazz have a great culture, and Quin and Th w staff are amazing but I do think there’s a possibility it could go bad(obviously there always is). Rudy and Donovan want to be All Stars (Rudy concerns me more this season he needs to make the team absolutely) , it’s going to take points, possessions, and shots to do that. Honestly I’m sure Conley wants to be an All Star and wants possessions, Joe isn’t going to want to be relegated to a small role and Bogdanovic didn’t sign a 4 year contract at $18 mill a year to not get his. Royce has worked hard on improvement and is in a contract year. The last couple seasons we had trouble using possessions now are there too many to go around?

Conley and Joe probably worry me the least, I don’t think they are that worried about the extra stuff. Rudy and Donovan are for sure though, and Donovan has a shoe deal and a brand he’s trying to build in this process. Rudy wants a legacy. Guys can certainly take turns on given nights, but Rudy wants an AS appearance, so does Donovan, and Donovan has a shoe to sell and brand he wants to build. Conley, Bogdanovich, I think Royce to an extent will all want plenty of possessions as well. Is there a chance we turn into last years Celtics? A very talented team that doesn’t mesh? Or do we think we’ll be okay because of what the Jazz have created? Lots of roster turnover this offseason for the better, but there’s only so many possessions to go around and I’m interested to see how it goes. Can’t wait for the season to start!

Have you seen how this team has played in the past? Not worried at all about players trying to get their own. Quin will have none of that.

Nah. It takes Ws. If we are top 3, I'm pretty sure at least 1 of them becomes an all-star, probably both.

Stop trying to burst our bubble. Chill
 
We’ll definitely increase our pace a little bit. There will be more possessions to use.

Rudy + 4 ball handlers = a feast of exploitable matchups.

If Conley, Mitchell, Bogdanovich, or Ingles catch it on the perimeter with some airspace, then they better let it fly. Niang could really blossom this year, too.
 
We won't have a problem with selfishness because of how well those guys' skills complement each other. It's not like we have three ball dominant iso players who will be taking turns on possesions.

Exactly. In fact, everyone has shown a commitment to moving the ball. Nobody is gonna pound a dribble unless the offense finds the right 1-on-1 matchup.
 
Donovan’s the only one I’d be concerned with so far as that goes.

Conley-15ppg
Mitchell-20ppg
Bojan-16ppg
Ingles-9ppg
Gobert-16ppg

That’s 86ppg from our five main dudes. I expect each dude outside of Gobert to take a couple less shots and score a couple less points than they’re used to, Bojan most of all since he won’t have the ball in his hands as much as Don or Mike.
 
The only thing Locke is worried about is posting needless podcasts to keep his advertisers happy.

The season just needs to ****ing start already.
 
You could make a thread about hypothetical worries like these for literally every team in every sport at every level.

I think he was more just doing worst case scenario because what else is left to talk about until the season at this point?

I also think it’s a reasonable concern, it could happen. Rudy needs to make the All Star team this year, he just does. It matters to him significantly and if he misses it again it’s going to become a problem for him and in turn the franchise IMO. Now like some have said, winning will take care of that so long as they have a good strong start to the season and maybe both he and Don make it if they’re top 3 in the West by AS break.

as for Donovan, he’s a great dude, great team player....and also has multiple large endorsement contracts he wants. The signature shoe being the most obvious one. I recall him saying only a certain amount of guys “have over 12 issues of their shoe, that’s the goal”. It does in fact matter to him and it should.

Some of you on here get so defensive lol. It’s just a thought of concern by Locke and on Jazzfanz, one of the very few possible concerns.

But yes I actually agree, I don’t think it will really be an actual issue.

1- One of the best defensive teams on the planet, that has the best defensive player in the world. It has to rub off a little, no?

2- Disagreement does not equal defensive.
