The truncated offseason is resulting in some of the most insane melting I have ever seen on a sports message board. Browns fans sound like they are ready to nuke the stadium. I have heard this is pretty much the norm around the league right now except for the huge FA players like the Eagles. It's weird. Like after 4 days or whatever the future of the team is in flames.
BTW, Cope, I'm excited to see Colt perform in an actual offensive system with a year under his belt too. It is really easy to root for this kid, even though he looks alot like a high schooler. He made some very nice plays last year in a very, very tough situation. This is maybe as optimistic as I've ever been coming into a Browns season since the return. Seems like the whole organization is actually on the same page for once.

It's about the same on the 49ers message board.
I will give it to you.. I do like McCoy as a long term project vs. getting thrown into a game like last year (His 1st game was vs. the Steelers). Since I hate the Longhorns I dislike McCoy which makes it that much easier to root against the Stains errrr Browns.
I do think you hiring Holmgren will help but I think your team, outside of a few pieces, still has quite a few years of growing pains ahead of you. I do think they had a good solid draft though for 2011 and what you gave up to Atlanta vs. what you got in return was great only if you draft well.
Really the AFC North is a 2 team division for the next few years. Cincy is well.. Cincy.. and until the Browns build up they won't compete. The reason I don't really see the Steelers dropping off (Even though they may just be the oldest team in the NFL) is they draft so well. Never the pick that I think they should outside of them trading up to get Troy years ago and when they got Ben. As long as the Steelers keep winning I will just have to admit I'm not the GM of the Steelers.

This year's schedule is tailor-made for us in that the tough stretch is at the end of the season. So, if the guys Heckert & Holmgren have been building with are any good, we have a chance to win some games as they get their act together. The first 2/3 of the Browns' schedule would be considered basically cake for any contending team.
I won't make any guarantees but by the time we play the Browns could very well be respectable.

#1 - What do you have to say that Carson Palmer will even come back but then again come back more motivated? If anything he will be demotivated.
#2 - Andy Dalton a top 10 QB as a rookie? Is that why he was drafted above other QB's or is that why all Rookie QB's are top 10 QB's immediately. Don't even let me know bring up the Awesome drafting track record of the Bungles.
#3 - Wow.. top 5 WR in the league and he has taken 0 snaps. Homer to the fullest. Green wasn't even, in my opinion, the top WR in the draft. Even with TO and Ocho gone I don't think he is your #1 WR right off the bat - maybe later in the year if he is lucky. And the fact that you have Sidney Rice as a top 5 WR proves to me that you know **** about NFL Football. He had 1 good year - again 1 year.
I would take any of these recieves over an Rice

18 TDS and 2100 yrds in 48 games and 26 starts, qualifies you as a GOOD to DECENT wideout... not a top 5... Rice would be a lethal 2nd option.
Sidney Rice is a really good possession receiver. I guess he wouldn't qualify as a true #1 kind of guy because he can't do it all like a Fitzgerald/Johnson/White/etc, but he is still a great receiver. Way better than good to decent. Also, AJ Green could be great (depending on health). No way is he a top 5 receiver his first year in the league, especially on a team that doesn't know who their QB is with limited off-season preparation.

HAHA to the Bengals picking up the trash from the 49ers. Lawson did not live up to the hype of his draft position. He is not a pass rusher. He defends the run well, but he doesn't get to the QB.

You just made my point for me. Obviously the 49ers have been terrible for many years. Don't you think there's a reason they aren't re-signing their own free agents? Don't you think maybe the players they are letting go contributed to how bad they have been? Think about it. Like I said, Bengals are picking up the trash from the 49ers.
