Game thread - Jazz vs. Clippers 30 Oct 2019: "Kawhi Leonard Out Tonight?"

He's going to have to play like 40 minutes tonight... they have no creators outside of Leonard, George and Lou Will. This means the offense should get right tonight. We should blow these guys out.

I hope you're right. I really don't want to lose to these guy on national TV without Kawhi and PG.

Anyone else a bit concerned about Bojan's ankle? Looked to tweak it again in the closing minutes of the Suns game. I'm hoping it doesn't become a nagging injury that lasts all season. Sometimes dudes are too tough for their own good. (Although becoming more and more rare in pro sports.)

Hes from the balkans

One of the balkan footballers was chasing knife attackers away in england....

These folks are BUILD FORD TOUGH

Tonight is the front end of a back to back for them, with the Clippers playing the Spurs tomorrow at home. I wonder if they are going to rest for one of each back to back game this season.

I think you're right - I don't think Kawhi wants to miss any game against SAS either.

My only concern is patrick beverly tbh, not bc of his defense, but because he plays the game to injure people.

His entire defensive shtick is a load of turd balls. He gets away with so much ****.

The Clippers are about the worst defensive team in the NBA when Williams is on the floor. The Jazz will run the ball at him all night long.

I'll take the trade-off in a heartbeat.
No doubt. Honestly out of the players available Montrezl Harrell is probably the one to be the most concerned about as far as matchups go, we don't really have a big athletic body to keep him in check without Favors.

If it helps us win I guess that’s fine but this kind of sucks. You want to see how we measure up against this team. They are punting it appears. I would think they’d sit him against SA but maybe he wants to stick it to his old team.
I agree except this team isn’t ready for a contest like that. This team just needs to get wins anyway it can and give Conley the best chance he can to find his mojo.

Also, any win over a WC playoff team is going to be huge come April.

They're going to lose anyway so it's a brilliant plan really.

I think this is a move to get into the Jazz' head, actually. While resting Leonard they get to see what the Jazz can do against the rest of their team. If they happen to win, then it gives them an extra edge going into the next game while adding Leonard back in. If they win both games, then the second shoe drops later in the season when they have PG back.

I think it's a pretty smart approach to both the regular season series with the Jazz, and then a likely match-up in the playoffs.

They need any edge they can get, IMO. When Conley starts hitting, the Jazz offense is going to be a monstrous challenge to the entire league.

This. We're not ready for, nor do we need, a "challenge." This is effectively preseason, except it counts. I'd have no shame about wanting easy Ws in these first 10-20 games.

He was last year and missed ~20 games, so I’m not sure why that would disqualify him this year.
I’m not sure anyone would be calling him the best right now if he hadn’t (a) hit that shot against the 76ers, and (b) ran into a gutted Warriors team.

Two low-probability events don’t make someone case-closed better than Giannis or LeBron.... especially when you need steady load management while your team carries you to the big stage.
