Exum assigned to the Stars

I think he will cut into Mudiay's time right away by way of Mudiay having a shorter leash. Given a choice, Snyder will generally favor the guy playing defense.
I feel like mudiay has played great defense. I mean the jazz are the best defensive team in the league iirc. Our offense has been lacking if anything.

I think Mudiay's minutes are still absolutely up for grabs. Even though he's earned to be the back up right now, it's not set in stone.

There are probably 2 games this season where I thought he didn't perform (Lakers, Kings), with also his Suns performance being questionable. I include the Lakers performance because when it mattered he was pretty awful, and then he managed to put up numbers in garbage time which didn't fool me one bit. He's also had a bunch of high turnover performances. Dante hasn't played since March, and it's probably going to be a while until he catches any rhythm whatsoever.

It's going to be whoever is playing better at the time that will get the nod, and it's going to take much more than 5 games until we can say who is in the rotation with any certainty.

For the life of me I can't figure out why The Jazz guaranteed his third year.

At least make it a team option with a possible guarantee based on incentives (like games played)

I'll never believe the market demanded it.
If it was a team option Jazz would pick it up. So it doesn't really make a difference.

The fact that anyone is anything other than alarmed that he got assigned to the Stars proves that their hope is driven by desperation.

You mean things to be alarmed about like the possibility of him looking bad even in training right now and therefore has been assigned to the stars? Anybody with any sort of sense is able to deduce that particular possibility, especially that with his injury it's possible that some people, athletes, can potentially take a full year before they're back to what they were.

It's entirely possible to expect the worst case scenario, but also not be a fool for hoping for the best.

Let me guess. U have never played basketball before. U probably just been a arm chair critic your whole life.

Huh? I'm not sure you've been paying attention. This is all about injury recovery and the chance to get in practice reps. The Jazz are basically on an airplane every other day with very little chance for good practice for the first two weeks of the season. Meanwhile the Stars have finally assembled and have 10+ straight days of practice opportunity before any games. Everything the Jazz have put out is that the Jazz want Dante to work slowly up to speed with increasing practice involvement.

If you want to argue that we should be alarmed about the condition of Exum's body, that fair (though there's nothing in this particular assignment that would move that argument one way or the other). But if you're trying to argue that the assignment is a commentary on the Jazz's evaluation of his talent/future with the team, there's nothing to stand on there.

Hopefully the end is near with Dante in Utah, we need to move on from each other, Mudiay is clearly his replacement. Emmanuel has shown more in his few games here in Utah than Bustum has in his whole career here when he wasn't injured.
