The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

How the Ukraine pressure campaign began as an effort to undermine the Mueller investigation.

I know people have focused first and foremost on the effort to damage Biden. Personally, I have been more interested in Giuliani's efforts to prove a conspiracy theory that lacked credibility. Or real evidence. This interests me, esp. as so many Republicans have adopted it, because it is an effort to sell a bald face lie to the American public. It represents an effort to rewrite history, a favored ploy of authoritarians. And their enablers:

So, Trump supporters should understand that Trump and his enablers are engaged in an effort to rewrite history, to pull the wool right over your eyes, and, so far as I can tell, you are buying it completely. You should at least understand you are on the side of the liars, embrace their lies as your own, and are running with it. All to protect the clown in the Oval Office. Here's a short segment from his Mn. rally in October. This is the part that caused Lisa Page to speak up. Anybody who can watch Trump at any one of his rallies, and thinks this is just fine behavior, what is the matter with you?

@The Thriller needs to explain his contortionist logic that took him from this......

to this.....

You have to work really hard to misrepresent something so comprehensively.

how exactly were you misrepresented? I'm not looking to argue and I thought you made a similar point to what I was making.

I don’t understand why you’re upset at me for summarizing what you wrote that Americans are too stupid/lazy to care enough about the most important issues facing our country today. You may not like the adjectives “stupid” or “lazy.” So feel free to substitute those adjectives for those which meet your personal preferences. But when you say, “the American people have lives...” what am I supposed to infer from what you’re saying?

If Americans are too stupid or intellectually lazy to care about what Trump did to Ukraine and how Barr is actively undermining law and order in this country, then we really don’t deserve our democracy. Right? I mean, if we're too busy "living our lives" to care about democracy for a few weeks of hearings, then what does that say about our intelligence level and attention span?

In fact, more damning adjectives, than stupid and lazy should be used to describe our society if we can’t be bothered to care about our government because “we have lives.”

He’s becoming worse.

As republicans have become more subservient, trump, being the bully that he is, has become increasingly authoritarian, vulgar, and bold.

Here is a recent article describing how Barr is actively involved in Durham's investigation. So far, I have been unable to locate an article I read, in which British intelligence expressed amazement that the AG of the United States was in Great Britain, trying to undermine the conclusions of the American IC regarding who interfered in the 2016 election.

It's amazing but not surprising. This is what Barr had to say a few weeks ago at a Speech given at the Federalist Society:

The fact of the matter is that, in waging a scorched earth, no-holds-barred war of “Resistance” against this Administration, it is the Left that is engaged in the systematic shredding of norms and the undermining of the rule of law. This highlights a basic disadvantage that conservatives have always had in contesting the political issues of the day. It was adverted to by the old, curmudgeonly Federalist, Fisher Ames, in an essay during the early years of the Republic.

In any age, the so-called progressives treat politics as their religion. Their holy mission is to use the coercive power of the State to remake man and society in their own image, according to an abstract ideal of perfection. Whatever means they use are therefore justified because, by definition, they are a virtuous people pursing a deific end. They are willing to use any means necessary to gain momentary advantage in achieving their end, regardless of collateral consequences and the systemic implications. They never ask whether the actions they take could be justified as a general rule of conduct, equally applicable to all sides.

Conservatives, on the other hand, do not seek an earthly paradise. We are interested in preserving over the long run the proper balance of freedom and order necessary for healthy development of natural civil society and individual human flourishing. This means that we naturally test the propriety and wisdom of action under a “rule of law” standard. The essence of this standard is to ask what the overall impact on society over the long run if the action we are taking, or principle we are applying, in a given circumstance was universalized – that is, would it be good for society over the long haul if this was done in all like circumstances?

Two things:

1. To Barr, empowering the (Republican) executive branch to be an imperial executive branch is his religion. In his view, "progressives" aren't fellow Americans with differing views, but are inhuman enemies of the state.
2. The amount of projection that Barr consciously or subconsciously exhibits here in astounding. He claims that progressives are the ones justifying the means to accomplish what they want. Hilarious given that Republicans have thrown their entire conservative ideology away to justify their war with Trump against the left.

Reading Barr's speech makes it unsurprising that he would coerce even our allies to undermine our law enforcement. Barr has a war that he wants to win, no matter the cost.

Apparently, it was this rally, when Trump imitated having an orgasm, which promoted Lisa Page into doing this interview:

If only senators had access to the intelligence community so they wouldn’t have to rely on crappy publications like, The Hill, for information...

When will sanity return? We need elected officials who’ll Take their jobs seriously.

Well, given that the impeachment isn’t going anywhere, who can we run with to get him out of the WH?

Joe “My son is a very capable man” Biden?
Kamala “Only I can smoke pot” Harris?
Pete Bootycheck?
Elizabeth “How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat!” Warren?

All of the above are better than Donald "I'm an incompetent, childish, petty, thieving, lying, douchey, selfish, embarrassing, bullying, etc etc etc the list goes on into infinity" Trump.

I mean think of any negative adjective that could be used to describe someone and Trump fits the description.

Bootycheck? Who’s that? You mean Pete Buttigieg? Why did you call him Bootycheck?

Oh because he’s gay man? Thanks for entering this thread and providing posts of substance.

right? Did he think typing “Bootycheck” instead of Pete Buddigieg was funny? Are Simple jokes about homosexuality still funny for people? Interesting. I thought gay jokes ran out of style about 10 years ago.

For someone that bitches nonstop about the poor state of American politics, his attack on Pete’s sexuality rather than political views seems a bit hypocritical to me. In fact, his entire criticism of the Democratic candidates didn’t seem like a serious post from someone who is seriously concerned with the state of politics and who wants us to focus on policies rather than trivial matters.

But his homosexual attack/joke really seemed to stand out. Whines about posters posting nothing of substance and then follows it up with a “Bootycheck” post for Pete Buttigieg. Sigh

If you only have oranges, your fruit salad is just a bowl of oranges. But under no circumstances should you put a tomato in that bowl.
