this wasn’t a realistic proposition a month ago, but Phoenix is sliding down the standings, and they can’t like their chances of making the playoffs very much at this point. The development of Ayton is a priority over playing Baynes (an expiring contract), obviously.
And obviously nobody is going to offer a first for Baynes.
So, here we are. We offer Ed Davis and two second-round picks. Ed battles Kaminsky for minutes at backup C.
This makes too much sense at this point, so it probably won’t happen. But it should. Phoenix doesn’t get a better offer, imo.
I'm on board with the idea, but Davis has a two-year contract, and it actually goes up slightly next year (from $4.7M to $5M). They may baulk at trading an expiring to add salary for next year, since they project to be ~$17M under the cap next season. However, we could also send cash (up to $5.6M) to facilitate an off-season buyout. They'd actually save cash this year and still be the same amount under the cap next season.this wasn’t a realistic proposition a month ago, but Phoenix is sliding down the standings, and they can’t like their chances of making the playoffs very much at this point. That’s like saying Kyrie Irving is an Aussie
You can have him.
I think I’m hurt by this comment.Comfortably your best ever idea.

You Exum homers have no heartsAnd yet nobody cares...
So would Ostertag.

Imo Bradley is what he is and hasn't been anything else for since we drafted him. He's an above average g-league big, and borderline NBA player. He isn't going to get much further than he is now.Why don’t we just try Morgan at backup 5... last night Clips had Green as a backup 5 he’s not much different size-wise.
Do we have to sit through 5-6 games of Bradley screwing up before we go down the line? Get Bradley a little burn now I guess but it’s clear Quin and DM aren’t big fans... DM has been really demonstrative when Tony screws up... maybe he figures some things out...
So you are telling me we passed on a bunch of useful role players that could have helped us on the cheap for a guy that at his best would be a backup at a position that is easy to fill? At least we got to invest three years in his development only to have him disappoint. If I were Quin I’d play him just so that it is clear to DL and JZ he ain’t it. Either that or try out 1 of our 7 minimum guys we signed. It’s time for Howard if we are sure TB ain’t gonna help.Imo Bradley is what he is and hasn't been anything else for since we drafted him. If that was remotely close to working for salary matching then sure but we don’t have the salaries to put together for a player making that much. It’s not worth discussing.Dwayne Dedmon apparently wants to be traded. How about Dwayne Dedmon for Davis and Bradley. Then hold a roster spot? It's not nearly as good as a fit as Baynes... 3 years 13 million per, more expensive, etc but he is on a fire sale.

As HH said, the salaries don't work. But the salaries that DO work is Davis, Bradley, and NWG for Ariza. Then go sign Noah or Bogut. If that was remotely close to working for salary matching then sure but we don’t have the salaries to put together for a player making that much. It’s not worth discussing.
