Jazz vs. Pistons (7:00 MT)

Kid is unplayable.

My brother rarely watches Jazz games and just text me “who tf is this Niang kid? They let him play in the NBA?”

My mind is boggled that Quin keeps playing this dude.
I thought Quin replacing him in the first half with Morgan worked well... then he went back to Niang in second half and holy hell he got BBQd. It’s time to play Morgan there... Niang can be an emergency option. I really think he’s gained a few lbs compared to where he was last year... looked much more playable last year.

One and three... not bad.

The poor bench makes everything look worse. The starters were always good and now even more dominant. We probably should have seen this coming. This is one of the tradeoffs the Jazz made. We are not as deep, but our best lineups are better. This is also showing up with our record in close games. We are a top heavy team that's built for the playoffs when rotations shrink.

He definitely looks slower and heavier than last year. His defense is pretty much making him unplayable, which is too bad because he's such a great shooter.

Called it.

It's actually embarrassing to see how many times Niang gets blown by on defense. There's quite a few in this video alone

There is a reason Indiana and Golden State let him go. The guy was a GLeague all star but he got sand kicked in his face tonight.

That is saying a lot coming from you. I was able to watch the game tonight. Holy hell did Niang look like hot trash. Every time they went at him it felt like he failed.

He got beat by wings, guards, wood blew by him and shot over him... he wasn’t this bad last year.

How good does it seem not to have to watch Davis? Bradley hasn't been great but at least we don't get killed when he's on the floor.
Ed was fouling like crazy too... it just looked more competent. Not being able to do anything with the ball around the basket just murdered the second unit.

Niang has his role but it's nowhere near what he's being given right now. Dude really does nothing special besides hit spot up 3 pointers.

I’m certain he has to lead the league in “and1’s given” per 36, so for every 3 he hits, he gives up at least that on the other end.

I don’t think that’s hyperbole.

In a blowout....he was the only negative at -2.

Last year he was able to get to the right spot and while he wasn’t great he wasn’t a turnstile. He needs every ounce of athleticism he has and he should still be improving his body... it shouldn’t have gone the other way.

It's weird, as a fringe rotation player you'd think he would have spent the whole offseason working on his body and came back in the best shape of his life.

Other than half a season with LeBron JC has never played with a group of guys like this. I doubt he has had as many easy looks in the last 2 years as he has had in the 3 games here. He missed some the first game because I think he was shocked he was so wide open. Watch the Caves play at all and you'll understand. They don't pass at all.
