What's new

Upcoming for 2020!

Put me in the camp that loves Trout in real life and doesn't care for his online personality. He helped me move from SLC to Roy several years ago, and I was just a girl he knew from Jazzfanz. He's a great guy until he gets near a computer.

Sent from my moto z3 using JazzFanz mobile app

I brought negativity into a thread that should have just been all positive. I really regret that. Not the right way to start the new year as my best self.

I will say that people from jazzfanz.com have been fantastic guests and to be the "worst" amongst them is still pretty good, tbpfhwy.

Against my better judgement I'm going to add a little clarification. Trout did not admit to having alts. Trout claimed to be posters who he is NOT. It bugged me several years ago when Ron Mexico was convinced Trout was Perl Watson and I didn't think it was true (and am now pretty sure it wasn't true) but when after the last game he claimed to be Firegirl I was sort of determined to find out. I sent Firegirl a PM that I worded vaguely so that if I got the right response I would know it was Trout. Well, Firegirl IS NOT Trout, so the response I got was that I was a weird creep.

I'm an exceptionally trusting person. I'm gullible in the sense that I believe the people I socialize with by default. If you tell me something I assume you are like I am, that you are careful about making assertions, that you take your integrity very seriously and that you have good intentions towards the people you let into your life. I am not a young person. I have been betrayed many times in my life. I live my life by a long list of "rules" and one of them is that if I consider a person a friend and they intentionally deceive me (I have several different categories for the types of lies people tell and I can forgive lies of certain types, but others I take as an indication that a person is, essentially, a malicious liar.) I put distance between myself and that person. That is how I've lived my life. It pains me to put Trout into the category of a person that tells malicious lies, but I'm not bending the rules on this. Those lies are red flags for me that I'm dealing with a person who lies for sport. I don't have time for that.

Lol wut? He claimed to be firegirl. So you sent firegirl a pm...if he is firegirl his response would have been tailored to convince you one way or the other. How does firegirl’s response prove anything?

It didn't have to. Convincing me was the condition to being invited to future poker games. So it was up to Firegirl, if that was a Trout alt, to decide if they wanted to be invited in the future or not. I can say unequivocally, Firegirl is not interested in coming to any of my poker games.

Yeah, I couldn't tell ya. I drank it straight out of the can. I've never had an issue with floaties or super hazy beer though. I had some Heady Topper awhile ago and it was murky as ****.
Hazy beer is the current fad. I'm okay with hazy beers, but they aren't my favorite. Floaties, on the other hand, that to me means someone is doing hazy completely wrong. But I don't think floaties is common for Level Crossing.

Maybe because it’s Trout?

well the deal was that he doesn't get to come to the games anymore. If that's the deal he wanted in order to keep being firegirl then he got it. Simple.

I'd honestly really like to stop talking about this. I don't have negative feelings about Truot. As mentioned, he has been one of the most entertaining guests I've ever had. He's been awesome. I don't want to keep justifying my decision in public.

So I was wrong... Suss It Out was the beer I had and the second one didn't have floaties.

I'd like to talk more about my scoring methodology.

For the "Best Bang for Your buck at the Utah State Liquor Store" there will be an oz. of pure ethanol per dollar score. But there will also have to be some other ways of evaluating the best overall value. Some of it will be subjective. I can't just rate beers based on the ABV/$ score.

I have some ideas and expect to have three scores and use those to make a composite score that will help me declare the ultimate best bang for your buck beer in Utah for 2020.

That's the easier side of it. What's more complicated and much more subjective will be how I rate Utah craft breweries. I'll be reviewing both the experience in their tap rooms (if they have them) and their beer line-ups. Maybe I should separate the tap room and overall brewery experience and then focus on single beers (could do best draft and best "high point")?

I'll be getting started soon and I hope to update each thread 2 times a month. I think I'll be doing something that is not common, not something you've likely ever seen. I certainly haven't. I'm not basing this on some type of model or example. This will be something contained within 2020 and I will issue my end of year awards in December, shooting for the Solstice as a deadline.

I'd like to invite people to be my guest at a few of our local taprooms. This would mean I would buy the drinks. I often go out by myself and I'm thinking this is not the best way to evaluate a venue.

If anyone is interested in accompanying me to one of the places listed feel free to PM me. I'll pay for the drinks within reason.

I'm a huge fan of 2 row Dangereuax Farmhouse Ale. One of my favorite beers of all time. Also I'd be interesting in going for a drink with you man. I live in San Clemente now but I am in Salt Lake about every other month for work.
