For... like a lot... you bring a lawsuit to my door well you better be ready to pistol duel or fight with swords for your cause. Would solve a lot of problems quicker and likely reduce the number of court issues by an exponential amount. If one party chickens out they lose the case.

I'm all for flogging and putting people into stocks, actually the extension of slavery to anyone without a knighthood would probably improve the commonality.
