Welp, everyone was told yesterday not no to come into the office today but "you absolutely need to work from home". Here I sit in a spare bedroom trying to do my job. Count me in as one that thinks this is being blown way out of proportion.

Since I am in the transportation industry I am the one trying to keep you bitches stocked up on TP. Don't piss me off!

Agreed that it's being blown way out of proportion. Clinton probably gave the go ahead to her Wuhan connections to release this ****, knowing it would hit the U.S., and Trump wouldn't have a clue what to do.
 
I think I'm going to be forced to work from home soon. I don't have the right equipment or even the room to do that effectively, so should be interesting.

I guess the upside for me is that my company set everyone up with a full computer station to work at home including dual monitors.

We are being asked to trade days off and on for salaried workers, so that's management for us. Not sure how we are going to help manage multiple distribution centers remotely but hey, a day at home is a day at home.
 
So work announced today that effectively immediately all scheduled days off and vacation time is cancelled. If you are still working in the office and call in sick you cannot come back to work unless you have a certificate stating that you have been tested and do not have the virus. This is turning into such a **** show...

Right now I'd be doing a portion of my job that requires a physical presence.

As I'm work from home right now...I'm sitting here posting on Jazzfanz.
 
Getting uglier. We're having a hard time keeping up with the demand to haul freight and now we are losing drivers. The drivers aren't necessarily sick but feel like they need to stay away from other people so they don't get sick or get others sick. They are isolating themselves. The asshats driving this are going to effectively shut the country down through fear. I'm starting to believe that the country that I grew up in will never be the same again in my lifetime.
 
I am not trying to be insensitive but given the numbers and how many people don't get tested because their symptoms are so benign, would we have been better off letting this run its course and letting society go on?

A shortage of hospital beds and ventiilators seem to be one of the main arguments against that. But I have to wonder, going forward, if that should be our response, and that in between now and then, if all hospitals should create some sort of pandemic wing (doesn't have to be big) with like x # extra beds and ventilators. Or something.

The driver's can stay home but you can't? That's some BS right there...

And no, the world may never be the same after this, but who's to say what we will find on the other end won't have some welcomed advantages.
 
My hardware store is still staying open. I'm 100% down to sacrifice myself because there are a tremendous amount of people that depend on us for supplies to live their daily lives.

Like seriously, more lives will destroyed because of the employment and economic ramifications of this than those who die. By far. And not for nothing but that's what old people do, they die. And I say that having two 71/72 year old parents who would say the same.

There are some medical professionals making this very argument. They feel history has proven that at this point in the spread of the virus the ship has pretty much sailed. Past attempts at containing diseases (e.g. small pox, scarlet fever, chicken pox) have failed and this attempt will as well.

The medical industry and medical supply industry and the army core of engineers should be given a blank check from the government and 30-45 days to gear up - commandeer hotels and turn them into hospitals, mass produce equipment - whatever can be achieved And then just end the quarantine and let the virus run its course.

The only other viable option is to put the country on total lockdown until a vaccine can be mass produced and turn the country into a socialist state in the meantime. Most estimates put that at about a year at best.
 
Went to the office today to beef up the home office stuff... I have a solid setup. Had to go get my chair and additional monitor today cause looks like it’ll be 2-3 months not 2-3 weeks...
