Trump made the decision to relieve him of his job in his administration. It was the FBI and the panel of Hillary lawyers who called themselves a Justice-Dept authorized investigation committee on Russian interference/assistance in our elections who trumped up the charges and prosecuted Flynn for being a known critic of FBI and other Executive Dept. deep-state Obama holdovers doing illegal stuff to begin with. This is sheer political vengeance, of the most horrid partisan sort.

Trump would have suffered intolerable media for years if he had stood up for Flynn all along the way. In the end, it is Americans who believe in justice for all, who have worked tirelessly and who have donated millions for his defense, who have pushed our corrupt bureaucrats to the point where they have illegally resorted to burning their own records, or "losing the records".

It's a felony to so obstruct justice, and we have a lot of bureaucrats whom we should send to jail, and make a big hullabaloo about it, to make an example of them so our horrid "Resistance" volunteers on the public payroll, who are so devoted to their cause that not only will they lie like hell, but break every law on the books if necessary, to "Get Trump".

The judge on the case is an Obama asset/democrat partisan who has violated established judicial protocols to help push for the wrong conviction, and denied access to material that would have exonerated Flynn before any unbiased jury. Jury-packing might be one of the issues here.

But the tenacious defense attorney has done an incredible job nobody ever expected, and the whole railroad team is on the run now.

I agree that Biden saying that was wrong. But that's one comment that not many people heard.

I can provide you an enormous list of comments by trump that way more people heard.

I believe the second question does not exist in a separate universe from the first, because, when the president erupted at "What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now, who are scared?", I believe he was erupting at Alexander's first question regarding the president offering false hope.

Now, if the president truly felt that it was bad journalism for Alexander to ask him if he was offering false hope( and, as explained below, it was not bad journalism), he could have been "the bigger man", and availed himself of the opportunity to offer reassurance to the American people. Instead, he was his usual petty self.

I believe what you may be failing to recognize is that any good journalist has every right to ask that first question of Trump. And not just because of what the president had just said, touting treatments Dr. Fauci had just downplayed. But because, at virtually every one of these coronavirus briefings, the president has offered both false hope and outright misinformation.

And, if you don't believe me, maybe you'll consider what Dr. Fauci says in this extremely telling interview:

“I’ve been telling the president things he doesn’t want to hear. I have publicly had to say something different with what he states,” he continued, explaining that he’s engaged in “risky business” but insisting that Trump is not and has not been “pissed off” at him to date.

“I don’t want to embarrass him,” Fauci added. “I don’t want to act like a tough guy, like I stood up to the president. I just want to get the facts out. And instead of saying, ‘You’re wrong,’ all you need to do is continually talk about what the data are and what the evidence is. And he gets that. He’s a smart guy. He’s not a dummy. So he doesn’t take it—certainly up to now—he doesn’t take it in a way that I’m confronting him in any way. So, Dr. Fauci is clearly saying that he would be telling the truth if he just stood there and told the assembled journalists "The president is wrong". If he did, I think that would be the last time Fauci appeared at these briefings, and we need him, if only to correct Dr. Trump.

You do not understand that Alexander's first question also does not exist in a separate universe. It exists in the broader context of repeated misinformation from Trump. If Fauci can't spell that right out, journalists have EVERY right to point it out and hold Trump's feet to the fire. If I were a journalist there, I would have been much more direct: "Mr. President, why are you misinforming the American public?" And, of course, I would then lose my press credentials.

This misinformation, repeated again, and again, and again, has led some to suggest networks simply stop broadcasting these briefings. This was first suggested by Maddow:



Of course, that won't happen. People might fairly point out "ain't the American way". But, there is another solution, one that would spare Fauci of having to repeatedly diplomatically correct Trump. Dr. Trump could simply STFU at these briefings.

And lest folks think Trump's months long misinformation and "fairy tale" scenarios have no effect: Red States and Blue States are experiencing different pandemics:

Sadly I doubt that we're ever going to see eye to eye much of this. I already agreed with you that Trump could have handled this better and I've already agreed with you that the questions are legit. I don't think we will ever agree on the broader picture. IMO there are many positives to Trump expressing hope, even when his optimism needs to be tempered by others. There are many positive things that could be said about him but the fact that a large segment of the media and many Democrats would sooner die than give him credit for anything will probably lead to much more conflict in the future. It is interesting that Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsome have recently discovered the ability to say positive things about Trump's administration, and that Trump has simultaniously found the ability to say nice things about the work they are doing. I hope that continues.

Sure. I understand. To some extent, I think Trump is using his time during these briefings as the only substitute he can find for the campaign rallies that can no longer be held. I am only interested in what the medical experts have to say at this point.

I did not expect you or I to agree, but, you know what, at least we can admit our differences.

Two days ago, a man I considered to be one of my very best "friends" sent me an email, telling me to never contact him again, for any reason. Told me I was mentally ill, because I had described to him the ways in which I felt Trump had failed us, and not just in regard to this crisis. While I could say, well, I guess he was not much of a friend after all, the fact is he is a very good man in so many ways, and we enjoyed many activities together. So be it.
