What's new

How has the virus affected you directly?

Wife has lost 95% of her small business income through June as of right now. Likely will go through September at this rate.

2 of my nieces tested positive. They live in WA. One is hospitalized, the other is quarantined at home. So far the BIL says they are really sick, tough time breathing, more pain than he expected from what we have been told about symptoms, fever that is hard to keep under control. Their doctor said that lung damage tends to be worse in people that have high uncontrolled fever. Don't know if that's accurate at all. Pretty scary **** right now.

****. I’m sorry, man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ugh. I’m sorry, man. Will you be able to get by with just your income?

Yeah, we're totally fine. My main job supports us completely just fine. It was nice to have a couple grand extra a month from her income though. And my side gig that pulled in a little extra each month was also cut. So we are completely fine, but it sucks missing out on having the "fun" money coming in.

I just need to check myself and remember how many people don't have any job right now and it knocks me out of being annoyed pretty quick.

I have been isolating in my office at work. I had requested that no one come into my office for any reason (including the cleaning crew) as they can reach me by phone or email. And for almost four weeks, that has been respected as no one wants to be the one to kill me as I'm the most vulnerable in the office. Until today - I was on the phone, and an agent walked in and plopped down in a chair. Gave me a mini panic attack, not going to lie.

I'm pretty sure Bezos has recouped all the losses from his divorce with the **** my wife has bought off Amazon in the last month.
Holy **** this.
My wife has gone crazy with spending. Seems to me like now is the time to be frugal. I talk to her about it to no avail

I've spent wayyyy less since I've been self quarantining. Cooking myself. Eating less 2, sometimes 1 meal a day due to inactivity. Living off of about $3 a day right now. (USD)

Notwithstanding that I'm still gaining weight. Go figure.

my wife has spent so so so so much on gd food. There could be worse things but $1,200 on food in a month seems excessive.
Went over my credit card for one month and only counted Smith's, Harmon's, Walmart, and Costco. 1300 dollars and 15 trips. In one month. For just me, my wife, and daughter.

Oh and my mother in law cause she got hurt and can't go to the store so she will call my wife and ask her to run to the store for some chicken. Then the next day say she needs so dish soap so my wife runs to the store for that. Etc etc

I'm about as frugal as anyone. It's driving me insane.

New guy I work with directly says his wife has all the symptoms and that she's going to get tested.

Then he says it'll suck if she has it because he'll have to go stay with his parents for a while.

I'm like, "if she has it you almost definitely have it!" He says, "I don't feel sick." He's not taking any more than the most basic precautions. I figure that if his wife is sick then he's sick and everyone on our shift that work out of the same shop are sick, myself included. I've been very vigilant, but I think I'm the only one on our shift who is.

I took a call this evening and ultimately it involved climbing into some equipment to check positioning of mechanical systems that have gone out of alignment and need to be fine tuned back into position and able to run at high speeds without smashing yogurt cups. Guy I work with decides to help (didn't ask or want his help) and so now he's trying to crawl into the same tight spaces and touch all the same stuff and annoyingly try to point out 15 different things to me while I'm trying to adjust one thing at a time to bring it all back into alignment. It's the type of job I VERY VERY VERY much prefer to do by myself, going step by step. It takes time, but this is one of the things I'm better than most other people I work with at doing.

I had to walk away and ultimately decided I was going home for the night. If these ****ers aren't going to take this seriously I'll take the occurrence and hope that if his wife is COVID-19 positive we know by Monday so that we can all get tested and figure out what needs to happen.

On the bright side of things, I was lucky enough to put some money into the markets a few weeks ago. Been waiting to invest bc the markets seemed so damn high.

I've made almost 17% since I got in! Not a ton of money, but hey, any positive is a good thing.

Oh. And I caved and let my wife get chicks. I guess eventually we'll get eggs, and she and the kids are happy, but they're annoying little things. Can't wait to tell the kids if they don't listen I'm gonna cook the damn things.
