What's new

TURKEY-GERMANY : Nowitzki- Turkey

The next game is 6.30 am with local utah hour at 11th. I really dont have any hope anymore, but still i will get up and see the game, its hard to be a turkish fan these days

I really hope that you will be happy to get up early and watch a tremendous team basketball. And I really hope that tremendous team basketball performed by our team.

Well, at least Enes proved he could hold his own against a couple of legit bigs in Nowitzki and Kaman. You would expect almost everyone to struggle against Dirk. He was the MVP of the NBA Finals and a sure HOF'er. Enes is a rookie. Dirk should have given him a schooling, but that didn't happen. Frustrating watching the coach and guards destroy Turkey's chances. On the other hand, imagine how happy Enes is going to be when he starts getting a few passes inside from Harris, Hayward, etc. and doesn't have to watch the guards constantly firing up errant 3's (oh wait, we have CJ and Raja).

Nice post. Everyone is so wrapped up in team Turkey, but this is a JAZZ fans website. Why should I care about the success of team Turkey or how bad the coach is? I agree he is terrible, but let's talk about what this means for the JAZZ. Enes Kanter was rusty, but way less rusty than he could have been, considering how long it's been since he's played a game at full speed. The guy is big, strong, tough, works hard, huge motor, great hands, runs the floor (to both ends), plays solid D, looks to be pretty skilled offensively (good FT shooter), and rebounds the hell out of the ball. I'm pumped. This has been fun to watch. Talks of the lockout situation improving gets me excited because of what I've seen of Kanter. He will take a few years, but so did Deron, John, and Karl. Alec Burks plays like D-Wade, Hayward plays like Brandon Roy, Favors plays like Stoudemire, and Kanter does play like Karl Malone the way he fights inside. Now I'm not trying to make any unfair comparisons, but I do think somebody of our stash of super young players should be really good. Sorry Turkey hasn't played better, but GO JAZZ!!!!

I don't know if you know this or not, but the longer Turkey is in the tournament, the more experience Kanter is likely to get. That's why this is relevant. Because it is about the Jazz. Because Kanter's on the Jazz.

And besides, we might as well route for someone in this tournament. Despite all of the supposed momentum on CBA talks, as it stands, there will not be a season.

France beats LT 73-67, N.de Colo had fantastic game with 22pts, Parker scored 19 and Noah had 13reb. France stopped LT fast breaks and cooled their 3pt shooting with aggressive and physical defense. JV had 12 pts,3reb, 2ast, 1blk.
What this means is that Turkey needs to win vs Serbia and hope that Germany would not win vs LT. If Germany wins Turkey is out. Spain and France will battle for 1 place in the group.

without jasekevicius,i dont see how JV can score really,he only can score when he is one o one with the rim, only one time he faced petrius(2.02) and he got blocked.i hope someone posts his highlights,so everyone can understand what i mean.or maybe i was expecting more from him, whenever someone defends him,he passes the ball(im not talking about double team) outside.

i really hope germany wins and we lose against serbia, cause we dont deserve to go to qf,,we still will b able to see 2 more games of turkey anyway(9-12th place)

He is 19, I believe there is still some opportunity for him to expand his offensive repoitoire. Again just because one thinks JV will be a very good NBA player does not mean that one thinks Kanter is going to suck.

He struggled today vs physical France play and that is expected from him as he needs to get stronger to play this type of basketball. Thats why he is staying in Europe for another year. He will eventualy need to learn how to play outside the paint a bit and look for his jumper more as well - now all he looks is to get close to the rim where stronger and athletic players push and abuse him.
Again, he is just 19 year old so he has all time in the world to learn how to be more effective scorer.

i think his problem is mental too,he doesnt know what he is capable of.

And for a guy that's played as few competitive games that Enes has it can't be nothing but a good thing.

i didn't know what to expect but it looks like he's done pretty well given the little minutes he has gotten.

Lots of positives to take away:

1. Learns on the fly. Dude got progressively better, especially with his help defense and passing out of the post.

2. Fighter. Does not want to get beat by anyone ever. He was really fighting for position on both ends today against Dirk and Kaman, and consistently winning those battles.

3. Can back down NBA bigs. A lot of people seemed to be worried that he was just bigger than the kids he's played against in previous competitions, but Kanter was able to easily back down Kaman and Noah (even when the end results weren't positive). Kid is strong.

I'm super excited to watch him develop. I really hope there's a season this year, especially since this is the first time I've had internet access at home since the summer of 2008 (living in the woods and all...) and I'll now be able to watch all the games live in high definition (or what NBALP Broadband calls high definition).

It was impressive to see how he played against Germany. You can tell that he needs to get more experience, and I think the Jazz's flex (if that's what we still run) will help him with his face-up game and his passing.

I was a bit disappointed with his rebounding in the 2nd round, but I think that has something to do with staying in defensive position with your man and then going for the board (he played a lot more PF than C, and Euro PF's are on the perimeter so much). Hopefully, his absurd rebounding rate in his U19 tournament is indicative. I'm pumped to see our team. I hope that there's not only a season but also a preseason as well! Greedy, I know.

does anyone know if the nba teams are officially available to play preparation games? or they need the lockout contract to be signed

No any games during lockout. Teams can't even sign their free agents or draft picks so there can't be no games of any kind.

Not only that, but organizations can't even be in contact with their own players.
