I'm glad I didn't go personally as Christianity didn't start making sense to me until I got away from the Joseph Smith stuff and just focused on Christ. The Bible, The Imitation of Christ, and Tafereelen uit De Heilige Schrift are the three books that changed my life. I hope the kid doesn't give up on Christ even if he doesn't feel fully satisfied by Mormonism's take on him eventually.

The Bible has been rewritten a bazillion times over. I still will read it. But to take it word for word as doctrine is ludicrous. This surprises me coming from the seeker of truth that you are.

Also main stream Christianity has screwed up royally by ripping off the Catholics and taking the theology of the Trinity. The Trinity is the biggest load of crap in main stream Christianity. You think Mormon's view of Christ is screwed up? Give me a break. If I wanted to believe in a Transformer I would worship Michael Bay.

Since when does "ripping off" equate to something being correct?


Mainstream Christianity comes from reformers leaving the Catholic church because of their teachings and them not being in the same ballpark as the Bible. But their problem was they focused on specific doctrinal practices.....they didn't even focus on the simple view of God. So they took the word Trinity with them and all the denominations still use it. Even though the word Trinity and its definition of it was created by Catholics.

If I were ever to leave the LDS church I would have to be Agnostic or Jewish or something. Because Catholicism is a load of crap and the other christian denominations are just a break off of it that kept a lot of the Catholic principles.
