Holy Sloppy, Managed Poorly, No Homework Done, Questions From the Trash - Where's a Building? Thread

Does the employer worry about "integrity" when an employee shows up for work and is asked to clean out their desk with no notice?

Or what happens where I work, you give them two or three weeks notice that you're leaving and they walk you on the spot. So what do people do now? Call in after they should have been at work and let their boss know they're at work somewhere else, after using the last bit of their vacation time, of course.

That's pretty ridiculous. I'm trying to change jobs right now (I actually interviewed this week) and I'm frankly relying on the fact that in California they have to comp you for unused vacation time. I have an after-tax fund of over $10,000 in unused vacation time that I'm fully planning on using as a parachute into a nice housing situation. If I got walked on the spot and they wouldn't comp me for vacation time, I'd be very motivated to sue my employer.

Because the practice I mentioned became standard practice they changed their policy and now pay out vacation at 50%...
