2020 Presidential election

I responded early on to the thriller guy who claimed the media treats Trump with kid gloves, and Biden is somehow vilified by the media. He seems to support Biden, and that is who I was initially addressing. Then there were statements that Biden doesn't have anything stick to him. That is what I am responding to. I think the media protects Biden, and the accusations should "stick", but we just accept it, and we accept the candidates that our two parties push forward. So my argument is with pretty much everyone I guess, as we have a system that pushes forward less than ideal leaders, but people won't do anything about it.

I am arguing with your statement that somehow Reade's statements were fishy, yet you imply the accusations against Kavanaugh were not and don't want me to equate them. I'd argue they both had flaws, but neither is unbelievable, and responding to silesian that innocent until proven guilty should not be the standard for those we put in office.

Here I thought this was a thread on the presidential election, where we should be talking about the candidates and their flaws, but thanks for your added/edited condescending statement explaining what I should and shouldn't do on this site. I'm sorry that discussing what I think are key issues are confusing to you.
People aren’t doing anything about it?

Reade’s statements were, in fact, much fishier than Ford’s. And further investigations have added to the fishiness considerably. Does this mean that Biden is guilt-free when it comes to parlaying power into forms of sexual access and expression? Obviously not.

In my opinion, the only people with ‘Biden equals Kavanaugh’ expressions on their tongues are people who are trying to score some kind of partisan political point. And, on the other hand, as I’ve said, I don’t know anybody here (or in my other political discussions) who think that Biden was the best we could do. —I guess this means the last nomination process is just about the same as every other nomination process in my lifetime—despite the many efforts toward change.

It’s not the issues you’re discussing that are confusing, it’s how you’re discussing them that produced some confusion. I think that distinction was pretty clear in what I wrote, so I’ll chalk your final comments down as yet another instance of you digging in for some confrontation that isn’t really happening. Welcome to the board.

The media bias toward Trump has included two classic media-bias ingredients: sensationalism and the foregrounding of conflict. These have been staples ever since 24-hour news networks started gaming for round-the-clock attention. To these staples, the media quickly added exasperation, and then had an incredible list of scandals to justify leaning further into this. The performances of exasperation have re-intensified the sensationalism and conflict.

Any discussion of how the media is handling Biden needs to be placed in this context.

1. I didn't say Biden=Kavanaugh. I'm saying they both have despicable accusations, and neither should be in the positions of power that they are. And it shouldn't be about doing the "best we could do". How about getting a candidate without slimy pasts with sexual assault claims? I'm not asking for a high standard here. If anything, Reade's claim may be more viable depending on what the she contemporaneously reported, yet the report won't be released. Strange.
2.I am a left-leaning moderate that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in my lifetime.
3.My statements were my opinions, and if you take them as confrontational, so be it. I just think the media is doing a disservice, and completely disagree with Thriller that they go after Biden more than Trump. One of the craziest, most flawed statements I have ever read anywhere.

I went back only 4 pages, and did a pretty quick scan, so keep that in mind...

But in that sample size it looks like the Kavanaugh comparisons are yours.

One day we’ll all reach the conclusion that anyone who stands up and glosses about the whole media, in general, is either a genius or a dumbass. It’s hard to wrangle with the former, and pointless to wrangle with the latter. Thriller isn’t a genius, btw; and coming at him or anyone else with Kavanaugh comparisons isn’t likely to produce a good conversation

There is some strangeness here. I’d like to know more, but what we do know IN THIS CASE doesn’t look viable. But you seem to be plowing ahead as if you already know more, though.

Yes, they were mine, more to respond that the media is left leaning, and if anything they have spared Biden, again responding to Thriller.

I'm not plowing ahead. There is a complaint that was contemporaneously filed when the alleged activity happened. The willingness from a subordinate employee to make such a complaint stands out to me. That takes courage. A report like that should be able to be disclosed. Reade wants it disclosed, how is it that the report won't be released. Makes no sense. As a voter, I want that information.

And, just so I’m clear, you’re upset with the media for not raising a persistent campaign against the establishment that holds this complaint? Or, maybe more specifically, you’re upset about that because you’re sure they would be doing just that if the complaint was against Trump?

It would help if I understood your specific beef with the media.

I think the White House's bid to discredit Fauci isn't going to help Trump. Most Americans seem to have a positive view on him.

I think the media is too left leaning to the point people discredit/ignore the media. I think the media agenda actually hurts the democratic party. More specifically, I want a neutral media, that reports news. I don't think any news outlet is that way. I want media I can rely on for actual information. We don't have that.

My point initially was to discredit Thriller's idea that somehow the media would grasp anything negative Biden did and run with it for weeks. That is clearly not the case as the Reade accusation has shown, which is why I brought it up, and to point at the actual media bias. It is annoying that the large majority of media outlets was to go against Kavanaugh but it seems the opposite with Biden, when to me, both accusers are just as credible. The media and Dems were quick to lash out stating that Kavanaugh had no business being on the court. And that was when he shoved his junk in a girls face as a college student while drunk, not groped and kissed her as Reade has alleged. I just don't understand the double standard. Which led me to my statements that I'm just frustrated with our parties generally. Not to argue with anyone, just to point out how sad our two parties are right now.

With Trump, all I saw was Stormy Daniels coverage everywhere. TV, Facebook, etc. Same with Kavanaugh. It was simply unavoidable. Yet with Biden, we see it, read it, but it is largely in the background. I'd think if there was an official complaint to a government agency by an accuser against Kavanaugh, the press and Congress would be demanding it. Yet it stays in the background with Biden/Reade. Just odd really.

Normally we could just vote based on the information we have, but when the options are Trump or Biden, there really isn't a choice.

As for sexual assault accusations, I haven't heard much about the ones levied at trump. So just on that issue I have seen more media coverage of Tara reades accusation against Biden than anyone's accusation (s) against trump.

In response to your first paragraph, I don't know if you live in Utah or not but KSL news radio 1160 seems to be what you are looking for.
Very rarely do I hear opinions when listening, just fact based reporting of stories.

Part of why you saw a lot of coverage about stormy Daniels is because A. We knew for a fact that it happened. And B. The freaking president cheated on his wife with a porn star and paid her with campaign funds to keep quiet! That is an amazingly huge news story. About as huge as your going to see. Should have got more coverage tbh.

I don’t think I have posted anything here in a few days yet see several posts of this guy wanting to “discredit” something I wrote. Weird.

Lol @ the media’s liberal bias. Just hilarious.

Fair enough, but the "grab 'em by the gato" stuff was all over the news with the 25 accusations against Trump, with many news agencies calling for him to resign. It got a lot of media, much more as I recall than the Reade stuff, but it was a few years ago. Still can't believe he was elected. And the Trump accusations were much worse, as there were 25 women, including Ivana before she recanted. Simply disgusting.

I live in WA. Local news generally more balanced, but the large networks suck.
