What's new

It’s official: Oni being underutilized

We just need Mudiay to take mid range jumpers and take ball handling duties away from many more qualified players.

Who needs a sturdy defensive presence with a decent 3 point shot?

Oni should sub in along with Clarkson. Then, he should take the most difficult assignment on perimeter defense. From there, he has a path into the starting lineup if he were to continue to improve.

Brantley and Oni will have 2nd year jumps...so we may see more out them next year. And JWF has great blow by speed, so you never know.

Another note on Oni:

He seems to prefer to shoot the 3 at the elbow, which is great. More space than if he were in the corner.

I'm not as high on him... I like him... I think for now you show him Royce and tell him "please do that when you are out there". We almost always have 2 of DM, JC, Ingles, Conley on the floor... let them handle and Oni can do his best Royce impression.

He does seem mature and calm. Like he knows what he is. Put him in coach!

Like if Oni was out there and you forgot about it until he hit a three... that would be success. Mudiay makes you notice him (good and bad). Niang too.

Remember when we were obsessed with finding the next Wes Matthews? Oni is he.
I like it. I'm all for getting irrationally high on guys we don't know much about.

Oni would have a defensive assignment that would make it impossible not to notice what he was doing.

Maybe he makes the guy disappear so you don't see anyone. I just think there is a solid floor to running him out there and if he hits a couple threes then awesome.
