Malone was a bad example, but I'm sure you got the point. What? Randaolph didn’t ever put up better regular season numbers than Malone.

Its okay to disagree. I personally don't rate PG that highly. He has lacked that youthful competitiveness in recent years. He seems like he's coasting. He doesn't fight like a Jimmy Butler. For me, he hasn't been the same competitor since his horrific injury. Now you just talking nonsense.
PG is jump shot dependent on offense... so he will ebb and flow. He is a first class defender no matter what. I get it Dame hit a 40 footer to close a playoff series... he was right it wasn’t a good shot.He shouldn’t have said it because it sounds stupid but that’s been the MO with him is that he says dumb or corny things.
He made it to the eastern conference finals twice on his rookie deal. Let’s just calm down a bit k.
Playoffs are a team thing... was PG part of the clips loss... yup. Kawhi was also trash in game 7 ... Trez was terrible the whole series and Lou is not a playoff guy.
His best season by far was the year before this one. There is a good reason he came in 3rd in MVP voting and 3rd in dpoy. Its okay to disagree. I personally don't rate PG that highly. I think it’s fine to disagree as well. I don’t think he’s coasting though... I think he’s had some injury issues and changes that haven’t allowed him to get his full footing back for extended periods. I don’t think he’s a mental giant or competitive ******* but I could see him being the second best player on a title team. I think he knows that too... that he is more of a Robin than a Batman... self awareness is good sometimes. Jimmy probably has an over inflated sense of self which is good too.
I think the hate has gone a little far because the guy is a cornball who says dumb ****. I wouldn’t trade Rudy straight up for him but you add Zubac and that’s a good deal. Even if he walks you have capspace and Zubac. Might be a better allocation of resources than just Rudy on a max deal?
I agree. I also don't think this year is the year to go all in... its part of the reason I might prefer getting something more long term for Conley. This year will become the "bite the bullet" placeholder year to set us up for a normal nba season next year.Maybe I'm just hung on the fact that it's 100% not happening. The whole idea was LA getting PG back to LA.
Could the trade, if it were to happen, work for us? I think so. PG would have to defer to Donovan, and we would have to replace the hole at C. I don't mind the trade, but I think PG is staying put.

The compressed timeline makes it tough. A ****** draft (at least at the top) complicates it too because if you are going youth movement you want a prospect in early.. so you'd want one in this year's draft.I think this is the year to make moves. Even if the moves are away from contention (which I believe we aren't currently contenders regardless), our FO could always blame the current financial landscape as the reason they didn't re-sign Gobert to a near supermax deal and decided to trade him. Same for Conley.
Rudy's next deal scares me big time. He would start a huge extension as a 29 year old limited big man.
It's not just Dame, though. He has plenty game winners/clutch shots on him.Now you just talking nonsense.

I'd want an overpay if we went the trade Rudy for youth route. I don't know that anyone is excited about pushing in to get Rudy since it is a placeholder season without fans.
If he doesn't sign the extension this offseason we could still extend him at any point during the season to 120% of his current salary... which puts him close to his regular max anyway. So I really don't see us moving the guy... we have a lot of opportunity to keep him.
Maybe.. they bought low on Capela and likely want to see what that looks like. I get the feeling they don't want to pay Collins but that's just based on rumblings from various insiders. Are you able to get Capela, Collins, and #6? I think they continue to build through the draft... if Huerter, Reddish, or Hunter looked more promising then maybe they'd try to speed things up a bit.The timing isn't great for us, but re-signing him when Don is up for a max is terrible timing in 2021 too. We wouldn't be able to make any additions this year or next and maybe longer. I don't think this roster is good enough to lock it in for the next 2-3 years.
A team like Atlanta seems perfect. The worst defense in the league could use the best defender. An overpay for them wouldn't be questioned because they have been so irrelevant for so long. It would be explainable.

Well yeah because I don't think Atlanta goes that high... I think the highest they go is Capela Collins and #6... but likely they don't even go that high. I think with Philly you could get a 1st and one of Milton or Thybulle for taking Horford.I think a future with Collins, Capella, picks and then a Conley deal for Horford, Milton/Thybulle and picks is brighter than what we currently have.
Don
Royce
Bojan
Collins
Horford/Capella
Joe
JC
Thybulle/Milton
#6
Other picks

If Collins becomes a solid defender and builds on his offense then you can come out ahead... My guess is the offers would be more like Capella, Huerter/Cam or Hunter, and a pick swap 23 for 6... or a pick next year. I think we'd all be surprised, in a bad way, at the return in a Rudy deal. I'd want a premium pick, a current starter, and a good young player at very least.
That's what I was saying:
Rudy for Collins, Capella and #6 (maybe we give back #23)
then
Conley for Horford, a first and either Milton or Thybulle
I'd actually prefer to take Hunter or Huerter instead of Capella if we knew we were targeting Horford.
Atlanta has a boatload of cap space. They don't have to send us Capella. They could send us Collins without having to send another contract.Okay that makes some sense. Capela would have to be included from Atlanta's side.... could be spun off to a third team for something different.
I think Atlanta might be a team that pursues Hayward (there are rumblings that Gordo may not be back in Boston next year one way or another). One thing the escrow is doing for these guys with big one year deals is causing them to look at what they could lock in for the future by giving up a little now. If he gives up $10M this year it is closer to 6 -7M in real dollars. Gordo may have some "unfinished business" in Atlanta... I hope he releases a super cheesy player trib piece.
I think he's an asset... I would think they would reallocate cap resources if they got Rudy to get another win now piece. If we couldn't get a first I'd just keep him in that scenario... have one rim runner rim protector and one passer floor spacer at the five. I really don't think they'd do the deal... not that its crazy town.Atlanta has a boatload of cap space. They don't have to send us Capella. I like it, but I don't think Boston would trade Smart. What if they brought in Boston as the third team.
Jazz send out Gobert
Jazz receive Collins, Smart, and the #6 pick
Hawks send out Collins, Capela, #6 pick
Hawks receive Gobert
Celtics send out Smart
Celtics receive Capela
This gives the jazz one of my favorite young big guys in Collins as well as a defensive stalwart to pair with Donnie. We have 2 1st round picks to double our chances of success through the draft as well.
