I disagree. Historically speaking every democratic and republican candidate in history has had millions of voters vote for them. Its a 2 party system like I said. And currently its at its most partisan so its even less suprising for either candidate to win since its historically unique right now in how our voters vote. Its also historically unique in that its two of the worst candidates possible.
No one would be surprised by the result this year, or any year really but especially this year, no matter who wins

Having a right wing echo chamber might make a ton of money. It might build up a loyal brainwashed base. But ultimately without hearing diverse opinions, the mechanisms that have build up Republican dominance politically at both state and federal levels, are acting as mechanisms for their own destruction. Fox News and am radio were assets for years. Are they anymore? What do you think?

What I think is that many people do indeed favor authoritarianism. I also believe not enough Americans know their history, and are not capable of recognizing when history’s mistakes are being repeated. In a democracy like ours, it is simply too easy for demagogue-like leaders to take advantage of people. Trump is as forceful a personality as it gets. And look at the cult he built. He did not start the development that has seen to it that so many people distrust authority in so many areas, in religion, in science, in medicine, in politics. But, obviously, he recognized he could take advantage of distrust in all elites to craft an alternative reality that has been embraced by his followers. And look where that has led, just in terms of the pandemic alone. Biden gets elected. Are we going to have increasing clashes between people wearing masks and people believing the virus is a Deep State plot? A low grade civil war between rational people and conspiracists? That’s flat out nuts.
But, in general, yes, many people are fine with authoritarianism, and will not be too concerned with any erosion of democratic institutions. When electing a president is all about marketing, and marketing a human being is all about creating an attractive narrative, regardless of how much of that narrative is fictionalized, and/or knowing how to manipulate the reactions of people, knowing it’s all about emotions, not reason, not the human intellect, but controlling and conditioning human emotions, then we can expect cynical leaders will come along who can play that game really, really well. And we can expect many people will be unable to see through all that. Tell people what they want to hear, and you will lead them by the nose.
And do that in an atmosphere in which all elites are distrusted to the hilt, and there is the fatal flaw in a one man, one vote democracy.

What’s interesting is once you get out of the echo chamber and follow political scientists and analysts with extensive backgrounds in mathematics and psephology, the message they are giving is pretty clear: Trump is in large trouble heading into Election Day. The unprecedented early vote and large turnout especially in key swing counties across states are flashing warning signs just as they did for Clinton in 2016.

Trump barely beat Clinton, and Biden doesn't have anywhere near her negatives.
I'm not surprised you're resorting to insults, because it's obvious you have no facts nor perspective.
Restaurants closed down from a lack of business. Every restaurant was allowed to continue carry-out service and delivery service, but the demand wasn't there. Even when they were open, there were no lines of people waiting to get in, because a lot of people didn't want to be potentially exposed.
I mean, we get that you're cool with hundreds of thousands of people dying, but could you at least pretend you have an argument with some intelligence to it?

Trump is also the incumbent without any clear message. At least on 2016 he could claim he wasn’t a corrupt president in it for only himself. He led a far more disciplined campaign based on economic populism. That isn’t at all visible in this 2020 campaign.
Also, no Comey letter, no email dumps from Russia, and I think an all consuming covid pandemic Makes things slightly different than 2016.
I’m not sure why some people are acting surprised that Trump is most likely going to lose and lose bigly. Haven’t we seen enough elections now to see that he’s dragging the entire GOP down? That media bubble that some live in is powerful.

Another key thing people are missing is Biden has consistently polled at 50% or better while HRC never did. Majority always beats a plurality.

Wow, it's almost like the last 4 years didn't happen. If voting were that easy. What about views on migration, foreign policy, trade, the environment, social policy, the rule of law, etc. And for the sake of it, just having a normal/decent president, instead of a narcisistic/sociopath/lying one.

How many registered Republicans will vote for Biden?
