Following Potential 2020 draftees

Some team has reportedly given Poku a promise and got Poku to pull out of the Combine.

Jazz should know about Poku from his practices with NWG at Olympiakos.

A few standouts from the Combine measurements:

Precious Achiuwa -- 6'8.75" w/shoes, 7'0.75" wingspan, 234 lbs. Isn't great size for a 5. Paul Reed is bigger.
Tyler Bey -- 6'7" w/shoes, 7'1.25" wingspan, 213 lbs. He's just a tad smaller than Trevor Ariza.
Paul Eboua -- 6'7.5" w/shoes, 7'3.5" wingspan, 9'0" standing reach. Great size for a wing defender.
Josh Hall -- 6'7.5" w/shoes, 6'11" wingspan, 197 lbs. Worth looking into late in the 2nd round or as an UFA.
Theo Maledon -- 6'5" w/shoes, 6'8.75" wingspan, 187 lbs. Good measurements for him. I'd like to compare him to Haliburton, tbh.
Karim Mane -- 6'6" w/shoes, 6'11" wingspan, 196 lbs. Dude is as big as Dante Exum and has some PG skills.
Reggie Perry -- 6'9.25" w/shoes, 7'0.25" wingspan, 250 lbs. Slightly bigger than Tillman.
Paul Reed -- 6'9.25 w/shoes, 7'2" wingspan, 9'1.5" standing reach, 220 lbs. Probably big enough to play some at the 5.
Jalen Smith -- 6'10.25" w/shoes, 7'2.25" wingspan, 9'2" standing reach, 224 lbs. Comparable to Ed Davis.

Paul Reed's max vertical of 37" is not too shabby for a PF. It's just a couple inches behind Josh Smith.
Josh Hall at 37.5" max vertical is encouraging.
Philosophical question:

Why list height with shoes now that NBA has gone to listing height without (even if I don't believe in some of the revised listings)?

David Locke usually pumps up prospects who are slightly below the Jazz's draft range, so that when we draft someone above that person, everyone will think we scored.

It's part of managing fan expectations.

There's a new mock just posted by ESPN, including their "intel" on what they're hearing from teams. I'll update this post with a few highlights.

** They think Ball is going #1. Minnesota is scheduling a 2nd meeting with him. Multiple teams are discussing a trade with Minny for the #1 pick.
** They think Warriors will take Wiseman at #2 if they don't trade the pick. Multiple trade discussions.
** Like other mocks, ESPN has Patrick Williams at #7 to Detroit. Williams may have a promise there if Detroit doesn't move their pick.
** Hayes all the way down to #12.
** They have Dallas taking Poku at #18.
** They have Denver taking Josh Green at #22.
** They show the Jazz taking Maledon at #23.
** McDaniels at #25 to OKC.
** They show Tyrell Terry dropping all the way to the Lakers at #28.
** They show Woodard and Bey going #31 and #33 in the early 2nd round.
** Reggie Perry at #40.
** Paul Reed all the way down to #53.

Ummm he's flat out called our pick multiple times (not directly but basically).

Woodard measured 6'5.5 (without shoes) with a 7'2 wingspan.
For comparison:
3/4" shorter and 2.5 pounds lighter than OG Anunoby, with 1/2" shorter wingspan and 2" shorter vertical reach
(very close in size to both Solomon Hill and Justin Anderson, too, though Woodard has better reaches than both)

He hyped up Trey Lyles in 2015, but that was when there was really no chance that Lyles would get drafted ahead of us.
In 2016, he was talking about Wade Baldwin and Dejounte Murray.
In 2018, he was talking about Melvin Frazier and Khyri Thomas.

theres no actual way that udoka azubuike's standing reach is just 9'1, thats how the manipulation of the vertical # happeend.

K we traded the 2016 pick so...

he has called AB, Hood, Tony Bradley In addition to the Allen and Lyles picks... it’s been a pretty good indicator.
